Really, this was my own fault. I, like many other travelers who travel to Ravenna without the aide or guide of a tour group, visited the Mausoleum on the assumption it contained mosaics. I am certain this place operates on a Venus Flytrap business model - luring the unwary in with its UNESCO heritage listing and affiliation with the seven... More

An important historical site but why be charged an entrance fee to step into an empty room devoid of any detail. Very funny!

If u don't find ancient history interesting, don't bother. If u do. Do. The most interesting thing for me was the porphyry bathtub used as Theodoric's sarcophagus...prior to that actual Roman emperors sat in it naked. That's history.

A ways out of town and not very restored, it is hard to imagine why this is recommended. You would have to be a goth buff.

This mausoleum is of historical and perhaps especially architectural interest, but it is non-descript otherwise, a ways out of town, and currently under conservation. 4 euro for not much other than a tomb, albeit a fine one on its own terms. My 10 cents -feast on the 5 mosaic sites that come with the combined Basilica Vitale ticket and give... More

The mausoleum is a fairly long walk away from the other World Heritage sites in Ravenna. And, unlike those other sites, this one does not feature any mosaic work. May appeal to those with more interest in history, but we wish we'd skipped it.

We bought a combination ticket which included this non descript tomb. It was a very long, dusty walk on a hot, sunny day to see an empty upper and lower chamber. This was a huge let down after seeing so many beautiful mosaic filled churches in Ravenna. My advise - do not buy the combination ticket which includes this mausoleum... More

An unusual building and worth seeing but you won't need very long. The walk takes one down main roads but is worth doing.

This was worth the walk to experience the enormous rock used for the roof - but it was being repaired and a bit run down.

Not much to see. You can ascend the mausoleum to a chamber at the top. There you find a broken and empty sarcophagus with no special features. Waste of time walking there.
