We toured this facility in October of 2013. A wealthy international group was touring with us. Davide seemed nervous when they arrived - his warm demeanor changed. Shortly after their arrival, I was quietly approached by a male individual of the group and threatened/warned (in perfect English - he knew what he was saying) that I should not take any... More

One of the highlights of our visit to Modena has to have been our tour around Davide's balsamic vinegar maturing chateaux. We were welcomed warmly by Davide after enjoying a wander around the vineyards. Davide began by telling us his English was limited, this was overly modest as his tour was word perfect, very informative and quite humorous. We were... More

Davide is a great host and he explained how the "traditional" balsamic was made which is very interesting. The tour itself is not long which is a nice fit if you are staying in Florence. The tasting is great as well and you can pick up a few bottles as well. Definitely recommend if visiting Modena. A bit of advice... More

We went to Modena for our anniversary and we wanted to see how the aceto di Modena was made. We read a lot about this place in Tripadvisor and we made a reservation. The visit was really interesting, especially to see how it is made and we’ve learned how to differenciate the traditional from the commercial. My husband didn’t want... More

I really liked to learn and see the process of balsamic, is a beautiful place and the owner is very nice and will answer all your questions. There is also a testing at the end and you can buy the best balsamic out there. Definitely recommend it!

I have to confirm all the great reviews - they are well deserved. My boyfriend and I visited the Villa today and enjoyed the beautiful estate and a great tour. Yes, we did get to taste different types of vinegar, and we even tried the delicious vinegar - vanilla ice cream dessert. The host was more than welcoming - he... More

In a beautiful city, full of many wonderful things to do (fabulous food, fast cars and wine) - we stumbled upon the best activity of them all! My wife helped me discover Villa San Donnino (thanks to Trip Advisor). I emailed them and quickly got a response from the owner, Davide. He helped me select a time and made sure... More

Host was really friendly and tried to make our visit as interesting as possible. We were late as we got lost. He accommodated us even if he already had a new group that visited. Very informative. We should all support small producers as they are passionate and dedicated to producing quality all the time. Time in Modena well spent.

Visiting Villa San Donnino in Modena was truly a highlight of our 2 week trip to Italy. Davide has such a passion for maintaining the traditional balsamic vinegar (which is unlike anything I’ve had before). We were able to taste all of his vinegars which we enjoyed so much we purchased a bottle of each! The tour of the barrels... More

We toured this balsamic estate (just my husband & i) and we were amazed at the tasting and how much of a difference there really was between the tradicional balsamic (w/ ONLY grape juice as the sole ingredient) versus the regular commercial brands we always see. (The commercial brands often add other ingredients like wine vinegar or caramel coloring, etc.)... More
