A friend of us organised the visit to Villa San Donnino, mainly to get the know the "Balsamic Vinegar of Modena" production. and we could not have been more happy about that visit. We are foodies, love to cook, read about good food and swallow every TV programme about specialities to eat. So we knew a little bit about balsamic... More

We drove from lake Garda to visit some of the sights modena. Reading the reviews on tripadvisor we decided to pay a visit. We were lucky enough to get an appointment with Davide. We are a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 children aged 11 and 14. Our children enjoyed the tour as much as we did and say... More

My husband and I had a fabulous time touring Davide's home and balsamic vinegar production. He was such a great host. We even began the tour with some gelato with balsamic vinegar on top. We learned a great deal about how real balsamic vinegar is produced and some key ways to identify what good balsamic vinegar should look like, smell... More

One of the most valuable places where you can find the history behind the tradition of the Balsamico Vinager Production!!! Don't fool yourselves...The famous Aceto Balsamico di Modena is different from the Aceto Balsamico TRADIZIONALE di Modena - DOP. Signore Leonardi is absolutely a gentleman and passionate about what they do at Villa San Donino!!! Thank you, DAVIDE!!!

Very special EXCELENT place! The owner is very friendly: he shows production, explain everything, let you taste different Balsamico's. You could also but different types of Balsamico, including Balsamico jam, right there. Looking forward to be back again :)

Caro Davide, grazie mille for your time and hospitality showing us your Acetaia "Villa San Donnino", describing the complex process of producing the real "Aceto Balsamico TRADIZIONALE di MO" and for giving us the possibility to taste your ´prodotti eccellenti´. We enjoyed it so much - and we still do with a bottle of YOUR Aceto Balsamico, meraviglioso! We will... More

Oh boy did I learn so much about Balsamic Vinegar. Davide, owner and host was very nice and helpful at explaining the difference in traditional balsamic vinegar and commercial balsamic vinegar. I will only buy traditional. We tasted different ages of balsamic vinegar and compared to commercial balsamic vinegar. Did you know balsamic vinegar is great on gelato? It's wonderful.... More

Davide, the owner, showed us around. He was a fantastic communicator.Really enthusiastic about his work.Very modest about his achievements.Easy to find as it is close to the autostrada exit Modena east.We are looking forward to opening our balsamic and can now appreciate the work that goes into making it.A visit not to be missed.

We visited Villa San Donnino last week on the second day of our vacation. We arrived slightly early and were welcomed by an extremely apologetic Davide, for not getting to us right away (we were early and he was conducting a tour). When he completed the previous tour and came to collect us, Davide was very friendly and welcoming. Davide... More

Wow, what an amazing tour Davide the owner of the balsamic vinegar production gave us. We were treated like queens from the moment the taxi dropped us off at the estate! We happened to come upon this hidden gem by accident from recommendation of our front desk hotel in Bologna. Only a sort train ride and cab away. I am... More
