We were so interested in learning about the making of traditional balsamic vinegar of Modena that we reserved our tour 4 months in advance. We were not disappointed. We arrived at 9am on a Sunday (10 am is a better choice). Mr Davide Lonardi, the grandson of the original owner gave the two of us a personal tour of the... More

The tour contained just the right amount of information to be enjoyable and informative without being overly fact heavy. Tasting was excellent and they produce some amazing high quality balsamic vinegars. The tour is free, but the shop is open at the end and I highly recommend you purchase something! The tour guide spoke very good english and was very... More

Coming in from town, you drive past the Ristorante San Donnino, past the bridge and it's the black metallic gate on your left. We called when we were 15 mins away to see if we can join the tour. No one answered the phone, but someone called us back and said that we can come by for a tour. When... More

Modena is known for their Balsamico Di Modena, no not the one you find in the supermarket (which is also nice with salads) but the Aceto Balsamico Tradizionale di Modena (ABTM), a DOP product which is solely made of grape juice and a lot of patience. Our guide was very helpful and took her time to guide us around the... More

Terrific private and complimentary tour - just emailed directly a few weeks in advance. Of course, we ended up spending over $250 on balsamic vinegar. Beautiful, easy to drive to, and interesting learning experience. Only takes about an hour, so conveniently fits in with the day.

The host of the tour was very friendly and welcoming! While we waited we were served ice cream with... balsamic vinegar! It was just awesome! The kids were puzzled at first but thrilled afterwards :) The tour was very private, just our family and the host. We learned about the process of making the balsamic vinegar, visited the acetaia, and... More

This was our second time visiting this amazing small producer of traditional balsamic vinegar. Davide is such an interesting host and the products are fantastic and competitively priced. Thank you again for such a great experience!

I never knew there was so much to learn about balsamic vinegar- not just any balsamic vinegar but Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena! Davide was so prompt in answering my email inquiry and very accommodating for the time of our visit. He turned us over to Francesa for explanations in English. What a knowledgable young woman! The tour was private... More

I went to the website: http://www.balsamico.it/ Chose the English version http://www.balsamico.it/gb/index.htm Hovered over "Tours" then clicked on "Guided Tours" Filled out the form then clicked "Send" I believe I did that on a Friday and received an e-mail response by Monday. I was given contact information for Villa San Donnino and Davide was copied on that e-mail. I immediately e-mailed... More
