Davide was a great host and gave a very interesting explanation of Traditional Balsamic. The rooms were full of wonderful aromas and the tasting at the end was a real treat. Make a booking to ensure you get the best attention as this is a small family business

A last minute change to our travel plans meant a few hurried emails to Villa San Donnino to try and rearrange our tour. This was achieved without problem. It was pouring with rain as we parked, but a lovely young lady, with a huge umbrella, presented herself at the side of the car to show us the way to the... More

You must make an appointment to take the tour. It was a privilege to be shown around the production rooms and parts of the beautiful old villa. Davide and Sara showed their passion for the product, and answered all our questions. It was a very moving personal experience, not just a tour. The tastings convinced us, and we were delighted... As part of our visit to Modena we wanted to visit a typical ' non touristic ' balsamic producer and after some research we chose San Donnino. What a perfect choice : 10 minutes by taxi from the train station we are met and taken around by Davide who proudly and expertly spends an hour explaining all about the true... More

If you are around Modena, you MUST visit Villa San Donnino! The location is beautiful, romantic-near to a small vineyard, away from the main busy road. We were treated very well, whole presentation is very interesting, it also involves degustations. Davide and Sara, who will take you around, are both super nice and they speak English very well. We learned... More

As part of a day exploring the environs around Modena, we were directed to stop and visit Villa San Donnino to experience true Traditional Balsamic Vinegar. We learned that Traditional Balsamic Vinegar is NOT a red-wine based vinegar, but rather a very special aged condiment. You won't be mixing this with Olive Oil into salad dressing - save that for... If I had to design a balsamic tasting experience, it would look just like San Donnino. A short drive through back lanes got us to the villa, where we were met extremely pleasantly by Davide, the owner. He introduced us to Sara, who was our guide. A previous party was still in course so Davide kindly let Sara show us... More

We tried to find an interesting point to visit for our trip from Bologna to Decensano. Find this point of attraction on TripAdvisor and were surprised this tour was #1 (actually still is) at Modena. We decided to stop by noon and did not make any appointments in advance. Unfortunately, when we were arrived, the gate was closed and we... More

If you're in Emilia-Romagna, PLEASE VISIT! I love balsamic vinegar back in the US, and had to visit Modena. I emailed the Villa and they were nice enough to meet with me on a Sunday! The cab ride frm Modena was about 20 euro, but the visit was worth it -- since it is FREE and in English. The guide... More

Easy to miss -- turn at the restaurant by same name (with good food) to find this gem. The family story, learning the production process and enjoying the results are a great way to spend an hour. Davide is a generous host offering his time and knowledge of the business. And it is possible to take back to US the... More
