What a wonderful place to visit, and for free. Great tour and a good explanation of how genuine Balsamic vinegar is made plus great tastings with ice cream. Tried the liqueur from walnuts which was also delicious. All in all a wonderful couple of hours. Thank you very much

Extremely welcoming and accommodating, pictures galore. We emailed Davide in the morning and he instantly replied allowing us to visit at our leisure from 2pm. We turned up un announced and Davide welcomed us in with open arms. Remember he lives here do he is inviting you into his home! He was very informative and willing to share his passion... More

Excellent! Definite worth the trip. Had a little trouble finding the place as I was looking for the villa, which you cannot see from the road at all. It is hidden behind a long driveway. Instead, look for a white stucco gate with not very visible sign of "Villa San Donnino" on the side. (See photos in TA traveler's photo... More

We did not know what to expect before coming to this place and we were pleasantly surprised. Indeed, the host received us (me and my boyfriend) in his beautiful house and showed us how he makes balsamic vinegar. Then, we had a tasting, which was really great!

Just to echo some of the reviews below . . .We stopped here on our drive from Florence to Milan for our flight home. Absolutely worth the stop. I never knew how real balsamic was produced, and the tour of the facility and explanation of the process was fascinating. Sarah was our guide, and she was a wonderful hostess, very... More

My husband and I were interested about how traditional balsamic vinegar is made and found many positive reviews on Trip Advisor, so we decided to check it out. We were able to easily make an appointment for a tour of the acetaia. Our guide was Sara and she was wonderful. Though she had only been working there a few months,... More

Davide was a great host and gave a very interesting explanation of Traditional Balsamic. The rooms were full of wonderful aromas and the tasting at the end was a real treat. Make a booking to ensure you get the best attention as this is a small family business

A last minute change to our travel plans meant a few hurried emails to Villa San Donnino to try and rearrange our tour. This was achieved without problem. It was pouring with rain as we parked, but a lovely young lady, with a huge umbrella, presented herself at the side of the car to show us the way to the... More

You must make an appointment to take the tour. It was a privilege to be shown around the production rooms and parts of the beautiful old villa. Davide and Sara showed their passion for the product, and answered all our questions. It was a very moving personal experience, not just a tour. The tastings convinced us, and we were delighted... As part of our visit to Modena we wanted to visit a typical ' non touristic ' balsamic producer and after some research we chose San Donnino. What a perfect choice : 10 minutes by taxi from the train station we are met and taken around by Davide who proudly and expertly spends an hour explaining all about the true... More
