During our 1 week trip to Italy we made a stop in Bologna. We wanted to try a cooking school but we waited until the last minute to call and reserve a spot. None the less, we called Barbara and Valeria and asked if they could do a class the next day for two people. We got an email within... More

On our 2 week trip to Italy, this is still the highlight of it. They have changed their name, they used to be Amici di Babette (check out the reviews there too). The kitchen was a full industrial kitchen, very well equipped and professional. Barbara and Valeria are passionate, patient, great teachers and their English is very good. We learned... More

My wife and I visited Bologna for Easter 2012. We were delighted II Salotto di Penelope could at very short notice book us on the course ( Good Friday evening!!). Very accommodating at a good price. We both thoroughly enjoyed the 3 hours and were impressed at the course, kitchen and instruction and local food history given from Barbara and... More

We learnt to make pasta and gnocchi and had a great time afterwards eating it with lovely wine! Very enjoyable experience with very friendly teachers. For under a €100 per person this was great value for money! More

Having been in Bologna a few days we had to experience making some of the exquisite traditional foods on offer for ourselves. We'd left it late, only emailing the day before, but were so happy when Amici di Babette called us back at our hotel to let us know they could squeeze us in for the day! Immaculate and professional... More

Our class was perfect. It was well organized, with just the right amount of lesson time and opportunity to beat up our own ball of pasta dough! The chefs were very welcoming and had a proper Italian coffee waiting for us. We learned to make three different sauces and three different types of pasta and then we dined on our... More

Looked at the various cooking school options and picked Babette because I liked that it was in a professional kitchen with trained chefs. The majority of the other schools Seem to be taught by older Italian grandmothers who don't speak a lot of English. If that's your thing, go for it. We had a great time with Barbara and Valeria... We visited the local farmers market with barbara in the morning and then walked to there kitchen studio together, all the while learning about the history of bologna. The class was great, we learned three sauces and three pastas. the potato gnochi in ragu was out of this world! If your looking for a good cooking class while in bologna... More

We had a perfectly wonderful time. The teachers were warm, friendly and accommodating ( we arrived early- no one was fazed!), with good English; spacious professional kitchen; the class was very hands on and was just my husband and myself; we learned to make 3 kinds of pasta and 3 sauces, with a terrific lunch of our work and recipes... We were on a travel competition, and going to Amici di Babette Cooking School was one of our challenges. We had to make tiramisu from scratch without a recipe! The ladies were so much fun, we laughed all afternoon. They make cooking fun. Their place is spotless, and pleasant to work in, and they speak English. We hope to go... More
