Since 1999 Market-to-Table day class plus shorter classes, 3 night courses. Only last week of July vacancies left, September / October filling up. Home cooking in a well air-conditioned home kitchen making updated, well plated, traditional Italian home food in very small groups at a very central location. Beginners, experienced cooks, professional chefs, families with children all welcome! I do my utmost to give you a memorable day and a great culinary experience and teach all the classes personally. And if you or your travelling partner/s don't fancy cooking, I offer a morning market food tour ending in a light lunch to introduce you to Bologna, its history and its food. And an unusual evening tour too, just ask!

After finding Cook Italy on trip advisor, I was excited to find out what Carmelita had in store for my first cooking experience in Italy. The first two hours were spent wandering the local market with Carmelita showing us the wonderful local produce, whilst explaining which food comes from the local region and providing us with samples from the stalls/shops... We took Carmelita's cooking class during our honeymoon in Italy and had the best day with her. It started at a local coffee shop where we chatted about our plan for the day over an espresso. We then enjoyed a couple hours of exploring the local market, which included learning about traditional Italian cuisine, how to pick the best fruits... More

I had the recent pleasure of having cooked under Carmelita's watchful eye as she taught me the ins and outs of excellent Italian cooking. We cooked from scratch (including making the pasta by hand!) a beautiful zucchini starter, a pasta tagliatelle, and a panna cotta dessert. I couldn't have asked for a better chef to work for, especially considering I'm... More

Taking a cooking class in Italy has always been something I wanted to do. I imagined myself spending a day in the old-fashioned kitchen with a typical Italian nonna making sauces and grilling meats to perfection. After reading the reviews on TA, I decided to book a day with Carmelita and was not disappointed. Carmelita is most definitely NOT your... More

What a wonderful experience we had with Cook Italy. From initial contact, Carmelita was great ...fast email responses, helpful info and tips on Bologna and very flexible to create a menu to suit our food preferences. Visiting the central markets with Carmelita was a highlight. Her knowledge of the history of food of the Emilia Romagna region is extraordinary. Our... More

Carmelita is a great teacher that learned the art of cooking from her family, and this makes for a warm and friendly environment to learn in. It is not a formal cooking class and Carmelita's experience is not formal so you will feel like you are learning in the comforts of your own home. Carmelita cooking class is worth a... More

Bologna is rich in delicious food and Carmelita is a wonderful guide to all of it. I took a half day class where we shopped in the morning then made a two course meal: homemade tagliatelle w/ zuchini, lemon infused olive oil and pine nuts and involtini with portk, prosciutto, parmaseano reggiano and crispy fried sage leaves. The meal was... More

Had a great morning and midday meal with Carmelita -- scouring the historic market for the day's provisions and learning about her favorite places to shop before going to her kitchen to prepare our meal. She was wonderfully considerate that we had our 8 and 10 year old with us and adjusted on-the-fly to ensure they had as great a... More

I had a very enjoyable time with your family, and both kids were just great! Glad you rate the cooking class with me as one of the top memories of your Italy trip this year, and needless to say it would be a genuine pleasure to host you again should you return to Bologna. My warmest good wishe to all! More

We have alway wanted to “take an Italian cooking class in Italy,” and Bologna seemed like the perfect place to do it. My friend took the helm on this one and we ended up taking a private cooking class with the #1 ranked Carmelita. She’s not cheap, but she’s flexible on timing. Her work space was also quaint and very... More

Your review made me smile, I don't know if you were more surprised to find that my classes are hand-on or if I was more surprised when I found out that none of the four of you cooked though you all liked to eat. Had I realised that I would have happily simplified the dishes to suit your inexperience, but... More

I love food, and teach cooking classes to teens in the U.S. and wanted my Italian vacation to revolve around enjoying, and learning more about Italian foods and culture, so I was beyond delighted to spend the day with Carmelita shopping in the markets, talking and preparing food, and of course enjoying our fabulous meal! My experience began with meeting... More
