Description: Italian cooking lessons in an Italian home! We are happy to teach you how...
Italian cooking lessons in an Italian home! We are happy to teach you how to prepare authentic Italian dishes and although we are friendly, we are also quite serious about teaching you the right way to make these dishes and ensuring that you will be able to replicate these back home. Your success back home is our objective. We are professional and experienced but not stuffy or arrogant. Our specialty is pasta making, the old fashioned way; the way the Italian grandma's still make it (with a wooden rolling pin and board)! You will make several pasta shapes and sauces and won't miss anything! We also teach how to cook with local specialties like Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, Traditional Balsamic Vinegar, Bologna Mortadella and Prosciutto from Parma. We cook with fresh seasonal produce, meats, and seafood. Lessons are personalized and held in small groups (1-3, up to 6 if related or close friends) to assure plenty of one-on-one attention. Our hands-on cooking lessons are held in a home setting. No surcharge for single participants or private lessons. Discounts for children. Lessons available in English, Spanish or Italian.

This is one of the best experiences that I had on any holiday. The tour guide Fabio was really In depth with his knowledge, history and explanation of the foods of Modeno whilst being engaging and funny. The amount of food that I consume was tonnes and I'm a chunky guy who loves his food ! You never will go... More

We truly enjoyed our cooking class with Maribel. Loved the market to table approach, picking out our food to cook. We bought, prepared cooked and ate our entire meal and learned a lot along the way. Everything was delicious. Thinking about the stuffed zucchini flowers and the fava bean and pea appetizer on crostini makes my mouth water. We enjoyed... More

My family and I really enjoyed the whole cooking class with Maribel. The class started with a market tour in which we had a chance to know more about the fresh ingredients and food made in Italy. After that, Mariel conducted the cooking class in her home kitchen. It's really fun and detailed in learning how to make pasta dough... More

We made a special trip to Bologna for this class based on previous reviews, and it was worth it. Joanna was wonderful. We met her near the market, and it was really interesting to tour the shops and stalls to select our fresh ingredients. It was a fun lesson about food and culture, and it was a cool old part... Five stars and a "Bravo" to Joanna & Maribel of Taste of Italy for offering a very pleasant casual cooking experience in the heart of Bologna. My wife and I and 2 teenage boys were in Bologna for just two days towards the end of our 12 day tour of Italy. We thought, what better way for our Italian-American family... More

I loved this full day activity... You start at the markets to discuss Italian food, buy ingredients and head to the chefs house (maribel) to be taught how to cook real Italian food! Our small group of three prepared 2 antipasti, 2 pasta dishes (1 vegetarian dish and a ragu sauce) and a dessert. It was the first time I... More

We had an excellent learning experience in our class with Joanna which was well worth the cost! Her kitchen was very charming, and a much more interesting and homey experience than the professional kitchen in Paris where I did my last cooking class. When making the ragù alla bolognese, we learned that traditional bolognese has a number of differences from... More

My teenage daughters and I are so glad we chose the market tour and cooking class. Joanna was a fantastic teacher and extremely knowledgeable. We were so impressed and grateful that she was able to cater for one of my girls who is gluten free while we cooked "normal" pasta. The quality of the gf dishes were amazing and my... More

We loved our market tour and cooking class with Joanna! She was very knowledgeable and skilled, and able to adjust her approach to easily accomodate and entertain two 11-year-old boys. They both gave her and the food a complete thumbs up. It was also informative to do our cooking in a home kitchen--we know that we can do it at... More

Should have written this review before - half a year has passed but we still enjoy this! My foodie daughter (14) and I treated ourselves to this hands-on cookery class. No regrets! Our host, Joanna, was super friendly and very skilled both at cooking and teaching. We did everything we'd wanted - made the ragu, made the pasta, ate it... More
