Description: Italian cooking lessons in an Italian home! We are happy to teach you how...
Italian cooking lessons in an Italian home! We are happy to teach you how to prepare authentic Italian dishes and although we are friendly, we are also quite serious about teaching you the right way to make these dishes and ensuring that you will be able to replicate these back home. Your success back home is our objective. We are professional and experienced but not stuffy or arrogant. Our specialty is pasta making, the old fashioned way; the way the Italian grandma's still make it (with a wooden rolling pin and board)! You will make several pasta shapes and sauces and won't miss anything! We also teach how to cook with local specialties like Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, Traditional Balsamic Vinegar, Bologna Mortadella and Prosciutto from Parma. We cook with fresh seasonal produce, meats, and seafood. Lessons are personalized and held in small groups (1-3, up to 6 if related or close friends) to assure plenty of one-on-one attention. Our hands-on cooking lessons are held in a home setting. No surcharge for single participants or private lessons. Discounts for children. Lessons available in English, Spanish or Italian.

We had an excellent learning experience in our class with Joanna which was well worth the cost! Her kitchen was very charming, and a much more interesting and homey experience than the professional kitchen in Paris where I did my last cooking class. When making the ragù alla bolognese, we learned that traditional bolognese has a number of differences from... More

My teenage daughters and I are so glad we chose the market tour and cooking class. Joanna was a fantastic teacher and extremely knowledgeable. We were so impressed and grateful that she was able to cater for one of my girls who is gluten free while we cooked "normal" pasta. The quality of the gf dishes were amazing and my... More

We loved our market tour and cooking class with Joanna! She was very knowledgeable and skilled, and able to adjust her approach to easily accomodate and entertain two 11-year-old boys. They both gave her and the food a complete thumbs up. It was also informative to do our cooking in a home kitchen--we know that we can do it at... More

Should have written this review before - half a year has passed but we still enjoy this! My foodie daughter (14) and I treated ourselves to this hands-on cookery class. No regrets! Our host, Joanna, was super friendly and very skilled both at cooking and teaching. We did everything we'd wanted - made the ragu, made the pasta, ate it... More

This is by far the best tour my husband and I have done. Joanna showed us around Bologna through and through. We learned history, culture, tried fantastic coffee and then learned how to cook & also got to enjoy fantastic Italian food (and clearly wine). It was such a well rounded experience. We felt so accomplished and plan on making... More

My partner and I were visiting Italy for the first time and were really keen to experience Italian food. We wanted to go beyond the usual restaurant atmosphere and so, we researched possible cooking classes available. We, ourselves, are novices at cooking but were really keen to find a patient teacher who would answer all our naïve questions and learn... More

Having lived in Bologna for over 1 year, I had run out of "things to do" in Bologna that I had not done 20+ times already... So to give my visiting friends (and their 1 year old!) an authentic Bolognese experience, I sought out "Taste of Italy" to supplement their visit...and we were absolutely BLOWN AWAY by the experience! Not... More

My husband and I had the joy of a cooking class with Joanna, in her authentic Italian home and we loved every minute of it! She met us at the old market and led us through an informative and very enjoyable tour, starting with a coffee and then meeting the butcher and vendors that she knows well. Being a part... More

I recently spent a few days visiting a friend in Bologna. While she was working, I made pasta! It was a great way to spend the day. I met Maribel at a local coffee shop before taking off to purchase fresh ingredients from the nearby market. We then headed back to her place to make tortellini filled with butternut squash... More

We had a day making pasta in Joanna's kitchen in her home. It was magical. Joanna speaks excellent English and is very engaging. She taught me how to make gluten free pasta and my partner tortelloni. We also made starters and dessert. She talked to our about the cusinine of the region. The whole experience was great fun, not mention... More
