We are happy to teach you how to prepare authentic Italian dishes and although we are friendly, we are also quite serious about teaching you the right way to make these dishes and ensuring that you will be able to replicate these back home. Your success back home is our objective. We are professional and experienced but not stuffy or arrogant. Our specialty is pasta making, the old fashioned way; the way the Italian grandma's still make it (with wood rolling pin and board)! You will make several pasta shapes and sauces and won't miss anything! We also teach how to cook with fresh local ingredients like Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, Traditional Balsamic Vinegar, Bologna Mortadella and Prosciutto from Parma. We naturally, also use fresh meats, seafood and seasonal vegetables and fruit.Lessons are personalized and held in small groups (1-3, up to 6 if related or very good friends) to assure plenty of one on one attention. Our hands-on cooking lessons are held in a home setting. No surcharge for single participants or private lessons. Discounts for children. Lessons available in English, Spanish or Italian. What a wonderful way to experience Bologna. Joanna our instructor was very knowledgeable and everything from the market tour to the actual cooking in her home was a joy. We made some staples. Tagliatelle with Bolognese sauce and tortelloni with a sage butter sauce. Both were absolutely delicious and fun to make. Hopefully I will now be able to recreate... More

My mother and I enjoyed this class. Joanna was a very good and patient teacher. She stepped in where she needed to, but also let us figure things out as well. The tortelloni we made was especially delicious. I liked the ambiance with the Italian music, even if it was a little warm without air conditioning, but such is the... More

We had such a wonderful time at your cooking class with our chef, Alex. She was so knowledgeable about the food, the food market and the history of Bologna and we had a wonderful time actually being in an authentic Italian kitchen and learning the best hand made way to make pasta. The day went by so quickly and we... More

I do coooking as hobby, so my decision to take this class was obvious, especially on a solo-trip. And i didn't regret my choice a second ++++ 1. I had a prompt and detailed reply for Maribel 2. You do not have to pay in advance to book a place on a lesson 3. Price is very moderate (for example... More

My girlfriend and myself are both passionate hobby-cooks. We took the traditional bolognese cooking course with Joanna. We have made our own pasta for years, and yet, there was so much to learn! It was a big pleasure for us to be warmly welcomed in an italian home, being thaught by a real italian who learned cooking from her 2... More

I have been raving to all of my friends and family about what an amazing cooking class my husband and I had with Alex when we were on our honeymoon! Definitely do the market tour. It's a must. Had we gone through the market on our own, we would not have gotten much more out of it than we do... More

My wife and I heard about Taste of Italy through word of mouth. That excellent recommendation was validated by the many positive reviews on TripAdvisor. Next we contacted Maribel by email and she was great about helping us choose what dishes we wanted to prepare. Our culinary journey began with a trip to the local market where we learned about... We had a wonderful time with Joanna, who is an articulate and knowledgable teacher. Not only did we enjoy learning details about Italian cooking, we learned more about the Italian way of life in general. Our lesson also helped guide us when ordering in a restaurant. Thank you Joanna and Taste of Italy, today was a vacation highlight!

I had a very special experience with Alex. It was 4 hours of food and food culture, my favorite subjects. Alex made me feel comfortable and welcome in her home. It was my first time ever making pasta, the demonstrations were clear and easy to follow. The pasta came out nice and thin, just how I like it. We were... More

I thoroughly enjoyed my market tour and cookery lesson with Alex on April 16th. Alex was full of knowledge and info about the food of the region which we saw in the local shops. I really enjoyed learning how to make pasta, sauces and bruschetta. It was such a relaxing and fun experience. Really worth doing. Thanks to Alex, super... More
