Italian cooking lessons in an Italian home! We are happy to teach you how...

Italian cooking lessons in an Italian home! We are happy to teach you how to prepare authentic Italian dishes and although we are friendly, we are also quite serious about teaching you the right way to make these dishes and ensuring that you will be able to replicate these back home. Your success back home is our objective. We are professional and experienced but not stuffy or arrogant. Our specialty is pasta making, the old fashioned way; the way the Italian grandma's still make it (with a wooden rolling pin and board)! You will make several pasta shapes and sauces and won't miss anything! We also teach how to cook with local specialties like Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, Traditional Balsamic Vinegar, Bologna Mortadella and Prosciutto from Parma. We cook with fresh seasonal produce, meats, and seafood. Lessons are personalized and held in small groups (1-3, up to 6 if related or close friends) to assure plenty of one-on-one attention. Our hands-on cooking lessons are held in a home setting. No surcharge for single participants or private lessons. Discounts for children. Lessons available in English, Spanish or Italian.

My boyfriend and I had a lovely lovely morning and afternoon with Maribel and the four ladies who were also in the class. The market tour was informative and fun and we kicked it off with some excellent coffee at the meeting place! The cooking class at maribel's home was also delightful and well-paced with lots of little tips and... More

This was to be a four hour class, and because Maribel takes such care in her instruction, we spent the better part of the day learning, cooking, and enjoying! We began at the market area in Bologna. After soliciting our class for menu preferences, we visited shops and learned about what to look for, history of food, local customs, etc.... More

Our day spent with Maribel was one of the highlights of our 8-day trip through Italy. I had studied in Bologna years ago and was really looking forward to sharing the wonders of this special city with my husband - especially through food! Maribel made this happen in a personal and personable way. We enjoyed everything: the two hours spent... More

A most delightful day with Maribel. Starting with a tour of the markets in downtown Bologna. Visited and talked about fish, meat, produce, bakery and other assorted vendors. Then off to her apartment to cook. I prepared, under Maribel's leadership, fresh pasta from scratch without machines, tortellini and noodles. We made a squash filling for the tortellini and served it... More

From start to finish the experience was fantastic and very personalised to our own tastes. I arranged the course via email approx 2 months before arrival and Maribel was very quick to respond to my questions, and seemed very relaxed. The meeting place was easy to find and I loved hearing about local history, traditions, gossip whilst touring the market... More

The cooking class with Maribel was wonderful. First she took us on a shopping tour where we bought the items needed for our lesson. We then went to her lovely home where we proceeded to make homemade pasta - which is quite a lot of work! I now have a new respect for my grandmother who did this every day!!... More

Cooking with Joanna was absolutely fantastic, and I couldn't say enough about how much I enjoyed the experience. Joanna is very welcoming and has a lovely home in which we did our cooking. Being the lone vegetarian in the group, Joanna made sure that there was a dish catered to my restrictions as well. Something I very much appreciated. We... More

I met Joanna at the market and we spent a very interesting time shopping for ingredients. She pointed out the unique characteristics of the produce, seafood, meat and cheeses on sale and how she selects her ingredients. She was a very patient and methodical teacher. I enjoyed every single dish we made that morning, and most of all I enjoyed... More

We worked with Maribel to schedule the class last minute and she was very accommodating and easy to work with via email/phone. When it came to the day of the class we met Joanna in the morning to go shopping and she gave an incredibly in depth tour of the market and what the food buying experience is like for... More
