Owner description: Ever wanted to eat in an Italian home? You can, with us! We are happy to teach you how to prepare authentic Italian dishes and although we are friendly, we are also quite serious about teaching you the right way to make these dishes and ensuring that you will be able to replicate these back home. Your success back home is our objective. We are professional and experienced but not stuffy or arrogant. Our specialty is pasta making, the old fashioned way; the way the Italian grandma's still make it (with wood rolling pin and board)! You will make several pasta shapes and sauces and won't miss anything! We also teach how to cook with fresh local ingredients like Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, Traditional Balsamic Vinegar, Bologna Mortadella and Prosciutto from Parma. We naturally, also use fresh meats, seafood and seasonal vegetables and fruit.Lessons are personalized and held in small groups (1-3, up to 6 if related or very good friends) to assure plenty of one on one attention. Our hands-on cooking lessons are held in a home setting. No surcharge for single participants or private lessons. Discounts for children. Lessons available in English, Spanish or Italian. Visit our website for more information.

We had a day making pasta in Joanna's kitchen in her home. It was magical. Joanna speaks excellent English and is very engaging. She taught me how to make gluten free pasta and my partner tortelloni. We also made starters and dessert. She talked to our about the cusinine of the region. The whole experience was great fun, not mention... More

I've been cooking for a long time, but I learned so much from my day with Joanna, both at the markets and cooking with her in her kitchen. This was by itself almost worth the price of the trip. I would recommend spending a day with Joanna to anyone interested in the cuisine of the region as well as anyone... More

Very fun and great pasta class. Joanna was very accommodating and had a class for us on Sunday evening (which is very uncommon)! We arrived and everything was already laid out and ready for us to start our class. Joanna went through the steps of what we were doing and we felt right at home as we chat with Joanna... More

My husband and I were on our honeymoon and absolutely loved this cooking class! We first started with the market tour where we purchased our meat and vegetables. We loved walking through having Joanna guide us. Then, we went to her apartment to start cooking. We made 3 types of pasta dishes, stuffed squash blossoms, and then ended the class... More

My wife and I recently participated in the "Taste of Italy" cooking class during our stay in Bologna. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Joanna, our instructor was the best! Very knowledgeble and great to work with. We started with the tour of the ancient markets where we learned first hand about the items that we would soon be preparing. This really... More

I took this pasta making class with Joanna on 10/15. This is something you do not want to miss. Learn to make pasta from scratch by hand . The special class was in a true HOME - I mean how wonderful is that. I immediately came home and want to make pasta for all my family and friends. Joanna was... More

My hubby and I went to Joanna's apartment to learn making tagliatelle and tortelloni. It's the most traditional and affordable cooking class I could find. I enjoyed myself very much. First of all, they were attentive to dietary preference by sending a questionnaire before the class. They were responsive and quick in replying. I also like the fact that the... More

My wife and I did a class w/ Maribel in May 2014 - and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience both from the market tour to the (very) hands-on cooking. She provided us with great background of foods in general and the why's and how's of the meals we prepared and ate after. It was too bad we didn't have more... More

The cooking class in Joanna's apartment was without question the best part of our trip to Italy. It was just three of us and our hostess. We made three types of pastas with three different sauces. We also cooked zucchini flowers stuffed with cheese and made a dessert of fresh strawberries with 25 year old balsamic vinegar. Choose the additional... More
