Reminiscent of a Wedgwood style of pottery decoration, this beautiful cathedral is painted in a refreshing shade of pale green. The statues, paintings and floors are all magnificent works of art. Always look up and make sure you visit the side chapels they are superb.

I loved the place, the whole city of Urbino with its narrow streets and top-of-mountain view is nice :)

As with many things in Urbino, the Duomo looks more impressive from the outside than on the inside. As cathedrals go, this is a bit bare and the chapel in the grotto underneath the church is also a bit dull and you don't feel as if you are getting much for the entry fee.

It has a wide and white Renaissance facade. The interior is majestic. The decorations, statues and paintings in the 2 chapels flanking the choir aisle are really wonderful.

Apart from the splendid painting by Federico Barocci it's a perfect, cold and big church that has nothing to do with the town it's in.

Perhaps it is because the Duomo in Urbino was decorated in a later period than the great cathedrals and churches of Firenze, Siena, Assisi and the like, that we found it more accessible and far more beautiful. I know that tastes differ, and others may disagree entirely with what I am about to say... Here you do not find the... More

Except for the little chapel to the side of the altar which is all that remains of the original 14th century cathedral; the present building with its imposing facade dates from C19. It suggests temporal might rather than the spiritual humility of the servants of God.

It has a dominating, stark, yet beautiful facade. Inside is breathtakingly beautiful with large solid white columns and a huge dome before the main altar plus smaller domes. Considerable light emanates from the high windows and everything is painted creamy white and pale pastel green.
