Visit to St Peters Square

Again a must go there experience when in Rome. Very interesting and worth the time to go there. Best early in the day as can get quite hot in the afternoon in summer.

Just. Amazing. We were there to see the Pope give a speech out of one of the windows. We were just lucky to be there on "Feast of Assumption" which we learned was a Vatican Holiday. Very cool!

This is usually where Papal Audience is where thousands of Catholics gather to hear the Pope speak. It has a beautiful silhouette too on sundown.

You can take beautiful panoramas of the basilica, or of the long line. There's a water refill area too, if you want a drink. What I thought was fun, was being in 2 countries at once. I was inspired ever since watching A Walk to Remember. However, there are some street vendors by the entrance of the square

Massive place, probably bigger than you expect but amazing. If in Rome you need to do this & the Collesium. Also do the Pantheon & Traveli & Stairs (which can be done in an hour + or so).

By far my favourite part of Rome and the Vatican. Absolutely beautiful and considering there are a lot of tourists, it has a calming feel.

When in Rome, you have to stop here. You be amazed at the size of the square, the obelisk in the middle and the many columns (284). Even early in the morning, you can already see the long waiting lines of people who are going into the Vatican Museums and the Basilica. Just be careful with your wallets and purses.... More

Theres no avoiding your arrival at the square should you ever visit the Vatican. Beautiful views of the Basilica. Extremely crowded, prepare to beat beat unwanted tour salesmen with a stick and fight to the death for your cab home.

Been there 2 times a day for 5 days in a row. Always had a great feeling inside by seeing that beauty. It's just beyond the reality.

St Peter's Square brings families together, families of every possible ethnic background, either tourists or residents of the area. Also loads of locals on a lazy Sunday afternoon outdoors. After touring the Basilica and the Vatican museums, it was a pleasure to sit on the square steps for a well deserved rest! The weather was perfect, warm but not hot.... More
