Wow…this place was big, really big, and it hates cameras. It’s difficult to gauge distance and the blistering sun forced my images to look overexposed. I apologize, I’m new at this. The only real issue staining the beauty of the square are the thousands of empty chairs and scaffolding littering the center. I don’t know if it’s always like this... More

It was morning when I visited here with my colleague an probably witnessed the biggest crowd gathering during my stay in Rome. Tourists all around trying to get the picture of the huge pillared elliptical square embracing the square and every now and then zooming in at the St Peter's Church to check if the Pope can be seen. The... More

Best place to hang out in the Vatican. Sundays at 12pm the pope will give his blessings from his Window and every Wednesday he will have a mass outside. Ticket holders get to have the front seats and tickets are free from the vatican website.

Noon on Sundays you can see the Pope if he is in Rome. He appears at his window and talks to the crowds. Obviously, it is very busy but it is a great atmosphere.

The scenes of history, religion, movies and more come alive just standing here. You can take in as much as you like with a guide or as little as you want just standing and watching.

As I am not a very religious person I didnt really know what to expect going to the Vatican. All I can say is when you walk through the walls of the Vatican and see the sqaure you will be amazed. Its sheer scale and beauty. I recommend this to anyone.

You feel so small walking around the square with its magnificent pillars. The statues that seem to gaze down on you from high, from above the pillars, are wonderful. They encircle the huge square and lead you to the Basilica. I could have sat for ever looking at the stunning architecture.....truly awe inspiring.

His story about the Square was informative, passionate and very detailed. He injected a story about the Obelisk in the center that I will tell from now till the end of time..

If you would like to go into the basilica, you have to visit the square, too. It is quite big, with the obelisk in the middle and the basilik at the end of the square. Don't get frightend because of the long queue into the basilik, it is quick! :)
