I was a bit let down by the square. Maybe it would be more beautiful at night? The plastic line-formers and some kind of scaffolding took a bit away from the view.

I never expected the Vatican to be so vast, so grand. Watching it in movies is totally different from seeing it in person. The only downside is too many people.

We were fortunate to be in Vatican City on Wednesday when the Pope speak to everyone. Unfortunately we were so far, the Pope was a dot and we had to look at the large Monitors. The Swiss Guards were impressive.

Great place to take pictures and endless selfies in the historic yet beautiful place. Love to just sit down near the fountain in the middle of the square and just regain some energy after going around the museum and taking in the beauty, peace and calmness of the holy vatican city that also happens to be the smallest country in... At the time we visited St. Peters Square, in Rome, Italy, the Pope was providing a mass to all who had gathered. And there were thousands of people in this square; who all wanted to see the Pope.

Large square with St Peters facade. Evening sun was behind the duomo, with flights high up criss-crossing creating patterns with jet-streams.. it was sur-real The security lines at abt 4 PM were manageable. Plenty of souvenir shops , gelatarias and ristorantes...

First a couple of tips - even on a sunny day take an umbrella as in high season it's a real sun sun trap, being shaped like a frying pan anyway and the heat can get too much. For many visitors the Piazza is where they line up to get into the Basilica. Don't be badgered into any queue jumping... More
