There always seems to be something going on here, and always crowds of people so it's always vibrant! I was lucky enough to see the Pope giving Mass while I was in Rome and the Square was very busy with groups of people, couples, families, etc, etc.

A must while visiting Rome and the Vatican. We´ve seen it by day and by night, don´t miss unique views from the top of the St. Peter´s Basilica and Cupola, and from the roof of the St. Angel Castle.

It's one of those places where pictures do not do it justice or really provide you with a feel of how big this square really is. It will be a place that I will remember for the rest of my life. It was on my bucket list and am so happy that I was able to see it in person.

Went to visit St. Peter's and were lucky enough to to have mass with the Pope, the queue to enter the church after mass were horrific, as to be expected really, we queued for just over an hour but it was worth it.

After all I've seen in Rome, I was not at all impressed by this square. It look a lot bigger when you see it on TV and you can easily find better and more awesome thing to see in Rome. Overall would not recomend the Vatican itself unless the place means something to you or you're Christian. If you are... More

I went to St. Peter's Square expecting it to be something cool to see but left being astonished by how truly beautiful it was. The pillars alone are really amazing but adding in the fountains, the statues overlooking the square and the beautiful architecture of the basilica, and it really is a sight to see and a must if you... If you don't want to be there for the special occasions or to take part in a Mass then I would suggest late morning is the best time. The wait at Security was minimal (don't forget your phone and your belt) and we were in the Basilica within minutes of arrival no crowds to speak of I February meant we... More

A beauty by day, St. Peter's really shines at night, when you can approach St. Peter's basilica without much foot traffic, and is beautifully illuminated. Great photo opportunity!

Walking to the Square from Castle Gandolfo, the square opens up, and before you know it, you are there, standing in front looking at the Basilica, a grand open courtyard surrounded by tall walls with statutes of saints along the top! Look up and to the right and you can see the window where the Pope stands when he addresses... More
