St. Peter's Square is absolutely unbelievable. The columns on each side of you surround you, as if they are two arms wrapping you in a loving embrace. The obelisk in the center of the square dominates your field of vision looking away from the Basilica. Looking towards basilica, you see nothing but an absolute masterpiece that is, unbelievably, much bigger... More

We visited St Peter's Square on the last Sunday of the month, so there was free entry to the Vatican museum drawing in huge numbers of people (especially for January). The Pope was also making an appearance, so there was live music and flags and everything! It was really cool to see, and despite there being thousands of people we... More

It was Sunday morning and whe decided to go to the St. Peters Square. There was a celebration of four persons who were going to be declared Saint by the Pope. When you are in the Square with thousands of people from all over the World it is Fantastic. You see the Pope on a big screen and hear his... More

I was here during Christmas so the square was beautifully decorated. Especially when the night came, the lights did make the place look magical. There were many many tourists taking photos in the square though. Every photo I took was just covered with people.

St. Peter's Square is a massive plaza located directly in front of St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City, To see the massive Tuscan colonnades, four columns deep, which seemed to embrace us in "the maternal arms of Mother Church" was daunting.

This square is one of the first sights of the Vatican and also one of the most expanding. We made a bad decision in trying to access the basilica from the other side and were surprised how long it took us to walk back to the other side. Should you wish to take pictures uninterrupted by the crowds, early morning,... More

St. Peter's Square is fantastic - the scale of this large piazza is just amazing. Stand at St. Peter's Basilica and look out, then when you're ready to leave, stand at the back of the piazza and look at the Basilica. Take in all of the architecture, statues and history. It really is a wonderful experience and a must do... More
