Since you are already going to St. Peter's Basilica and/or the Vatican Museum, St. Peter's Square is a part of that experience. Just be prepared for the hoards of people and little opportunity for shade.

Well worth a visit, the square is vast with good views of the church and Vatican. The church itself impressed me immensely and I am not church goer, but I always visit a church in which ever country I visit. I especially liked the Cistine Chapel where the eyes of Jesus follow you around tho room, I spent quite a... More

Its a place you must visit, the pope gives his blessings on a Tuesday and addresses the people that attend with words of kindness and doing the best thing for you.

One can only imagine what it would be like when the place is full of people. It is an amazing open space. There was a very long queue to get into the Basilica.

Visit twice if you can, it is awesome at night with the lights highlighting the key features, whilst during the day the sheer amount of people, worshippers and tourists show how important a place it is for the world. Seeing priests, nuns and monks traversing the square as part of their daily routine makes you appreciate that it is a... More

Walking around and admiring the vast and lovely square. Great sights all around like the obelisk and papal apartments.

One of the more tourist-y things you can do in the Vatican is get your picture taken while walking around St. Peter's Square. My toddler loved it there and was chasing pigeons for half the day and washing her had and drinking from the Vatican fountains. I love just standing there admiring all the structures. Very lovely and picturesque.

Massive and well worth the walk thru this Square. You can see where the Pope has Mass and the dozens of beautiful statues and ornate buildings. Much larger in person than what you see on TV.
