Outstanding architecture and just a great place to look around. The queue for us to 20 mins and that was just to get through the security. Once through there it was straight into the Basicila. Nothing to pay. Almost got someone to "jump the queue" for €15.00 per adult so glad I said no as 20 mins was fine. We... More

Was here in late October 2012 on the last Sunday when the Pope spoke to and blessed the people. The granduer of the plaza is without question. The statuary, including obelisk are beautiful! We arrived early and were there as the plaza filled with thousands of people to see the Pope. It was incredible to see people from all over... More

i liked the square much more than the bascilica.it has a kind of glory in itself with it's half-circle shape full of columns upon each there is a statue of a figure.i even liked the idea of key hole upon which the square has been made very much.it is a big square, although i thought it to be much bigger than... Really really big square, with columns around it and statues on the top. There is an egyptian ovelisk also in the middle of the square. It will impress you mostly for its size. Unfortunately at the time I visited there were maintance work to the one side of columns an statues so I do not have a complete picture.

Never thought this would be my highlight of a trip to Rome. I was looking forward to the food visiting the Colosseum most. But the sight of the Vatican is incredibly humbling, even as a completely non-religious person I felt in awe of its history and sheer massive presence. A lot of touts hanging round outside preying on the tourists... More

I went here in Aug, it was summer and I have queued for 40mins. The Church was amazing and I have never seen such architecture in Asia before. This is a must go place if you happen to visit Rome for the very first time. It was very crowded and really hard to take a photo inside the building but... More

Begun in 1656 by Bernini, two semicircular colonnades frame the square and lead the eye to the basilica of St. Peter, creating an architectural masterpiece of symmetry and perfect proportion. In the center of the square stands a 1C BC obelisk first transported to Roma by Caligula and moved to its present location in 1585. The entry lines to the... More

Most wonderful place of all Rome! You can feel the touch of God in there. It's huge! Of course, you have to watch for pick pockets, like everywhere. At the centre of piazza is the obelisks, and there is fountains with drinkable water. The water is amazing! Cold, fresh and holy! I am not very faithful, despite I am baptised... More
