It looked great for years in movies, and in real life it was clear the movies cannot truly show just how large this area is. A recommendation is to book everything to do with the Vatican early and online if possible. The savings are worthwhile but... More

It's a massive queue, I would recommend getting a pass from the people offering out side; they have identity on them, and offer a tour as well. Take a drink for the queue, as you will get dehydrated

A must see for all visitors to Rome. It is exactly like you see in pictures but you have to see it for yourself. The architecture and atmosphere are incredible. Be prepared however for big crowds no matter what time of the day you visit but I recommend early morning or in the evening as the crowds are much smaller... More

We've been to there to watch the service with the Pope Francisco. It was a sunny spring day and we loved it.

Waited a long time queues snaked down the street , on that particular morning there was a terrorist threat, but everyone went through the scanner and found a seat , when the Pope appeared nobody sat we all ended up on our chairs , I had a good view as he drove around the square in his Pope mobile ,... Make sure to visit the St. Peter's square on a Wednesday when the Pope is hosting a public mass on the square. The mass starts at 10. But he will drive around in his Pope mobile before hand. In order to get a good spot you should be there no later than 9 am. If you want to take pictures... More

After the 4hr tour we had at the Vatican we end up to the famous square which is in front of the Vatican. I was very impressed in the way how they used to build.

Not necessary to close your shoulders or knees, what we afraid for. Fast in trough control post. In front of piazza is small souvenirs shop with free toilet rooms.

This is a massive place for an open mass and a papal blessing on a Sunday. It is in the open so be sure to bring an umbrella in case it rains.
