WOW - it's an amazing breathtaking space. I took a few moments just standing near the centre "people watching" there was so many people but never felt crowed. Many people here for all different reasons, some for religious reasons, some to admire the beauty that surrounds you and others purely cause it's on the list of "things to do". It's... More

We rented a charming and close by apartment in Prati for almost 2 weeks so we came to St. Peter's square probably 7 times or more. Attended 2 Papal audiences, which were awesome, and I am not even that religious. We also saw the Pope during the Sunday Angelus at noon, which was also amazing. I took so many photos... More

It lost its majesty with all the paraphernalia there associated with crowds visiting the basilica and also for papal audiences

At first I had trouble registering I was standing in St. Peter's Square - the same place we see on television and online news. I'm not Catholic, but it was still a surreal experience. We arrived at sunset and there were very few people about. No chairs were set up; one could walk all around and through its center. Read... More

Rome appears to have more obelisks dotted around than anywhere outside Egypt and unfortunately there is a huge one smack in the middle of St. Peter's Square. It really jars against the beauty of Bernini's colonnades. Having said that, the piazza is simply magnificent and if you stand with your back to the obelisk and look around the full 360... More

The Piazza is enormous and always full of people. Would be more beautiful if Vatican authorities remove the forest of chairs and rails that make difficult to see the square in all its grandiosity.

A beautiful space to gather to the Vatiican and Basilica . Even though many hundreds and sometimes thousands gather here it never seems crowded ... It's quite literally an amazing piazza for visitors to gather .

We took a tour for the Vaticano museum, The sistin chappel and the St. Peter church. A must when your in Rome. There is so much to see, so you can easily use several days. If you pick the vaticano tour from Maximus tours, you get the most important for one day.

If you go to St. Peter's basilica, which you should, your first impression will be in the square. It is huge and overwhelming. It is a great place for photos and where the lines begin to get through security. Ignore the "street" vendors and enjoy the view.
