On the last day of my tour of Southern Italy and Sicily the group was transported back to Rome from Naples and then dropped off/abandoned at noon at a hotel out in the boondocks of Rome. There was nothing to see around there so I thought I would try to go to the Vatican Museum. . It was about 1:00... More

We were there on the 30th of Apr and so were 50,000 other people too crowded to enjoy I would hire a private guide and go at night go on a tour to guarantee entrance at a certain time and void lines More

The tours take you through very fast and it was very crowded. Lines very long to get through. first the security line and then the ticket line. To get tickets ahead, must do so more than 60 days ahead. We paid E45 each from a street vendor and the guide was excellent (British). Some or our tours have been hard... More

This is an enormous museum. So many different aspects. Unless you enjoy queuing, book in advance. Don't bother with booking sites - go directly to the museum's own site. This is huge - allow hours to visit. The Sistine Chapel is the highlight, but you don't reach it until the tour is almost finished - you can't go directly to... More

My wife and I only had a three hour visit because we were with a tour party but we really needed three days! The museum is massive, it's spread over fifty-four galleries, There is far too much for me to tell you about, so have a look at their web site:http://mv.vatican.va/3_EN/pages/MV_Home.html One thing that I will mention is the Sistine... This is so vast and the queues when I visited in May were up to 4 hours long! Some people get there at 6am and there are touts trying to get desperate people to pay 3 times the normal amount for tickets... Save yourself this hassle and book a skip the line tour! I used Dark Rome and they were... More
