Roseto di Roma Capitale is a very beautiful rose garden. We even saw a few pink buds in February, of briar, not garden rose, but hey! A rosaceae by any other name would smell as sweet. A beautiful garden full of the most wonderful roses in the middle of one of the most sugestive angles of Rome. At the Aventino and in front of both the Circo Massimo and the Forum is a very romantic place to visit during spring time in Rome. Go and see the sunset there. It's a day dream!

We needed to kill some hours before returning home by plane and a local suggested this garden across the Circus Maximus. It was wonderfull, especially if you're traveling with a botanist. I love roses a lot and shot some beautiful pictures. The garden varies in levels of height, so you have a nice view at some parts.

I did not know this garden existed and came across it accidentally. A very hot day and a restful respite under a gorgeous rose arbor (photo now framed on my living room wall). On Aventino near Circus Maximus with beautiful views.

It was nice to walk through with great views of the forum in the distance but I've seen nicer gardens. Free is a good price!

We were lucky, the weather was great, and the rose garden a short walk from the hotel. We have never seen so many varieties - all labelled for the ignorant - beautifully laid out, and blooming furiously when we visited (early May). And it's free! What could be better value than that?

Beautiful fragrant roses, and a place to sit and enjoy a picnic on the way to the famous keyhole of the Knights of Malta building. You can see the circus Maximus from here too. All in all a restful beautiful stop

Not sure if it is really the biggest rose garden, but it is simply awesome. We spend hours walking and sitting on the benches and took photos. It was very hot but could not get ourselves away. Colours and smells and beauty. Do not miss this. We had the garden almost for ourselves, only an hand full of other visitors.

At the foot of the Aventino, in the spring, will open the gates of one of Rome's most romantic gardens. A lot of 1100 species of roses bloom in a riot of colors and scents that make it even more valuable for nature and a place that is already magical place. From here, in fact, you can enjoy a splendid... More

Staying in Aventine

Neighborhood Profile
Aventine
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is Rome’s oasis. A neighborhood made up of a patchwork of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of surprises like the clever little keyhole at the Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find a line) along with Parco Savello (Giardino degli Aranci) next to the ancient Santa Sabina church. Keep your eyes on the 1960s architecture, several modern buildings are built atop Rome’s original 4th century BC wall.
