You'll not see anything like this anywhere else, that is for sure. Not for children or for the easily squeamish. It is pretty neat though what they've done with the bones. You sometimes forget it is a bone you're looking at. more

I'm a big skeleton fan, so this was right up my alley. I wasn't really counting on the dried skin to be slapped back on some of the skeletons though. That was quite the extra touch. There were signs saying not to take photos (not that people heeded them), but I'm not sure it was out of any sense of... more

This is one of the coolest and must unique things to see in Rome. It's wacky religious, mysterious, and cool. It is unfortunate though that they don't allow photos and that the lady who works there was a bit rude about needing donations. Still, the visit makes a great story. more

My friend has lived in Rome for years and we'd never come across this place until recently. Well worth a visit, especially if you've visited Rome several times and have seen the usual sights. Went in April 2008. I don't want too say too much as it may lessen the impact of this place - it's incredible and quite eerie.... more

What a great sightseeing experience! This series of crypts is located underneath a small church just next door to the Lamborghini dealership! This alone should tell you that you're in for an unusual experience! While some might consider this place spooky, I actually found it quite awe inspiring. These monks cared enough about their brothers to upkeep this special place.... more

November 2006: Toured the Crypt first thing in the morning before going to the Coliseum. Fascinating and beautiful (just a bit eerie) - perhaps not the best stop for the squeamish before breakfast. Definitely worth a visit (or two) - the friendly lady at the counter will make your day - she really seems to love her job. P.S. Watch... more

Visited December 2006.First visit.Afternoon session 3pm-6pm.Entry by donation. All I can say is you have to do this. It's Surreal , Strange ,yet weirdly beautifull and spiritual too.See it for yourself rather than give too much away.Do make the effort to go up the steps into the church. If you are offered a lightening personal tour by the caretaker TAKE IT,WOW WHAT A... more

I loved this place, truely gruesome and bizarre because they have created art out of the bones of dead monks. Best site in Rome! However, in 2004 it was closed for rennovations so check to see if it has reopened before getting too excited. more
