Santa Maria della Concezione is a church with crypt below. the crypt contains the skeletons of hundreds of monks arranged on the ceiling and walls to make decorative displays; sunbursts, archways, flowers etc. very, very creepy but strangely beautiful and well worth a visit for its sheer uniqueness. on the via vento road, from the outside the church isn't much... more

I wouldn't recommend this site for children, but it was quite beautiful if you could see past the superficial strangeness of such a display. If nothing else, it forces you to comtemplate your own mortality. more
