It is a solemn site where Nazi soldiers rounded up hundreds of Romans, led them into some caves, and killed them all, one bullet to the back of the head each. And nobody talks about it. On March 23rd, 1944, a heavily armed column of 156 SS police marching through Rome, was attacked in the Via Rasella by ten partisans, nine men and a woman. In retribution the occupying German forces rounded up 335 men and teenaged boys, all of whom were innocent of the attack, and executed them at Fosse Ardeatine. Here you will find... more
