Alex hosted a tour of the Palatino which enthralled our entire family. The kids (10, 8, 5) loved the sword fighting tips and easily connected & understood the ancient history of Rome through his stories & language etymology. It was so wonderful we jumped at the chance to join him on his mysteries of Rome tour in the afternoon. Both... More

What a fabulous time we had tonight, exploring those places in Rome we would never have found on our own ~ even if we knew they existed. Alex is a master story teller who brings Roman history alive, particularly as it pertains to his favourite Italian artist, Michelangelo. All that and an espresso to boot.

By far the best tour we had was the Secrets of Rome tour by Alex- he was the best! We met him from a tour at the Colosseum and told us about the secrets tour. It was so cool to see things you would never normally be able to touch and see. I won't ruin it but he showed us... More

We had two tours with Alex, First the at the Forum which was really fun and where we found out about his Mystery tour, we wasn't sure we wanted to do an evening tour but now so glad we did - it was awesome, so many hidden gems I've missed in passed trips to Rome. Alex is a fun guy... More

Look out for this company at the colosseum. Avoid the queues and hear lots of interesting facts on Roman history. Our tour guide, Johnathan, also shared his top tips with regard to eating, drinking and travelling around the city. I will be looking them up next time in Rome...

I stumbled onto Alex my last day in Rome and am already planning to change my travel plans to hit Rome another day just to take another one of his tours. He is incredibly knowledgeable but more than anything, his passion for what he talks about and shows you on his tours is make the city and the history come... More

While visiting Rome in 2011 for a family reunion we luckily met tour guide Alex Mariotti for his tour of the Roman forum. It was delightful and due to that positive experience we booked his tour of the Vatican and the twilight tour of Rome. Alex is knowledgeable, personable and insightful. His description of Michaelangelo's Pieta is still vividly recalled... More

My husband and I had looked up some tours prior to traveling to Rome. We had decided that we would do without and go about Rome on our own (I had been several times, though it was my husband's first time). We just happened to be roped in by tour employees as we were deciding whether or not we wanted... More

We had the pleasure of a tour with firstly Stefano, around the Colosseum, and then with Alex for the rest of the morning. We were so impressed by their professionalism we booked for a second tour the next morning. We are old hands at travel, many guides have passed our way, however the information which was detailed, and the charm... More

Sadly I can only review the booking service (or lack thereof) for this company. There is no way to book their tours but by sending them an email. I have sent 4 emails over the last month trying to get information and book several tours with them and have not received a single reply. Apparently the only way you are... More

Staying in Monti

Neighborhood Profile
Monti
Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighborhood just west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet for the artsy, alternative, and hipster. Every season, quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its cobblestone streets. The neighborhood supports unique and homegrown businesses that cater to its longtime residents as well as hipsters on the hunt. Hang out at Piazza della Madonna dei Monti anytime after lunch and you'll always find something going on.
