We really liked this food tour & learned a lot about how to eat in Rome. I highly suggest doing this on your first night in Rome because it will give you ideas on where to eat throughout your trip... Not to mention you can ask you guide for advice. Everywhere we stopped was very good especially the excellent gelato... More

Won't write a long review, cause mine goes along with all of the others written below, an excellent tour and great way to experience the real Rome outside of all the touristy spots. Will find authentic Roman food and meet some great people along the way. We did the early morning Testaccio tour with Alexandra who was a great guide!!!... More

We did the Twilight Trastevere Food Tour and it was great. The group was small (10 people) so it was casual and friendly. We walked between the courses so you could digest the food and see the neighborhood. There is walking involved but it wasn't too far. Our guide was friendly and very knowledgeable. The porchetta was our favorite --... More

So, Rome did not make the best first impression on us. Not sure why, but I will say that I am SO glad we did this tour first thing because it replaced the not so great first impression with a fabulous impression. I highly recommend you do it first thing so you get a little acquainted with the city -... More

We did the Twilight Trastevere Food Tour with Kate as our guide, and we can't recommend it enough. A great mix of street eats and sit down places, and all in all we thought it was a bargain for ~$100 pp. Trastevere is a great neighborhood to stroll, eat, and drink, and although we did this near the end of... This was the best thing we did in Rome! Francesco was a great host who guided our Trastevere food tour through many small winding and historical streets while providing a commentary about the local areas and introduction to many food and wine tastings. The food and wine samples were amazing and I still can't decide what I loved most! Really... More

This by far was the best tour we had in Rome. Our guide Sebastiana was great and my only regret was not doing this tour our first day in Rome so we could have more of the great food we tasted.

We highly recommend the Trastevere food tour. It is a great way to see and experience a small community away from most of the tourists in Rome. The tour stops at 10 different stores with different specialties. It has everything from cheese, 'fast food' (all homemade and delicious), meats, fresh produce, gelato, pasta, wine, beer and baked goods. The tour... More

Such a fun afternoon eating my way through Rome. The tour is in a neighborhood that is away from the center of the city, so you get "authentic" Rome. Our tour guide Emma was so knowledgable and it was a great break from the bustle of site seeing and the annoying tourist trap places!

We had a lovely evening on the Twilight Trastevere Food Tour. Roger was our guide and was very knowledgeable. There was a good variety of food places visited - shops, restaurants and wine tastings. Our favourite was the ancient wine cellar. It was nice to wander between each different location and we saw parts of the area that we may... More

Staying in Testaccio

Neighborhood Profile
Testaccio
Put the house music on replay and you have Testaccio, an ancient Roman port and former working class neighborhood where the bass is set to high almost every night of the week. Its collection of discoteche (nightclubs), street parties, and crowded restaurants give it its well-deserved party reputation. During the daytime, Testaccio is more easy listening than club hit, the area is full of locally owned small businesses and has one of the city's larger produce markets.
