We booked the Testaccio food tour thru Viator and was very happy we did! If not for the 2000+ people who have reviewed this activity, we'd say it's an off the beaten track thing to do in Rome. There's not much crowd in Testaccio and you get to see the residential area and meet local merchants. The food was delicious!!... More

Domenico knows everyone... Very friendly, passionate and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend this tour, you will see and taste bits of Rome you'd never venture to otherwise, as it is off the tourist map. The food samples were very generous, we were all happily full by the end of the tour... Delicious! Great restaurants, shops, market etc in Tessacio, wouldn't see other... More

We loved the Trastevere Daylight tour, a wonderful way to engage with an interesting neighborhood, eat delicious food, and interact with Italians. We were 3 generations - my teenage son and daughter and my parents - and it was one of the highlights of our 12 days in Italy. Anna was our guide, she was delightful and well informed. We... More

We joined the Testaccio Tour with Domenico and enjoyed every bit of it! Domenico was funny and informative - and we finally learned how to tell what gelato is the genuine Italian gelato. Will recommend!

We had been to Rome before and had taken a wonderful tour hitting all the major tourist highlights. Since we were returning on a cruise, we wanted to try something different. Our family of 4 signed up for Testaccio Walking Food Tour, and we were not disappointed. It was an approximate 4 hour tour of the local eateries and markets... More

We took this tour on Monday 22nd June 2015 and enjoyed it immensely. Bethanie our guide was very knowledgeable and knew the area extremely well, providing a commentary as we walked. She was very understanding with my husband who walks very slowly and paced the tour so that he was able to participate in all except the last tasting. By... More

Our guide was very entertaining and knowledgeable despite the poor weather we experienced. All the food we tasted was delicious, and we knew we wouldn't have found the places on our own. Great way to see a different part of the city and discover some places to visit again later.

Trastevere dinner tour was awesome. Our guide was so entertaining and VERY knowledgeable of the neighborhood and rich history. The walking pace and the food was perfect. If you want a great evening filled with history and wonderful food/wine from 8-10 places...do this.

Staying in Testaccio

Neighborhood Profile
Testaccio
Put the house music on replay and you have Testaccio, an ancient Roman port and former working class neighborhood where the bass is set to high almost every night of the week. Its collection of discoteche (nightclubs), street parties, and crowded restaurants give it its well-deserved party reputation. During the daytime, Testaccio is more easy listening than club hit, the area is full of locally owned small businesses and has one of the city's larger produce markets.
