We took the Taste of Testaccio Food Tour and it was great. Testaccio is an old neighborhood in Rome where many of the shops have been owned by the same families for generations. The group was small, 7 of us, which made it very easy to move around and enjoy the tastings. We went to a small cafe for Italian... More

I would highly recommend the Trastevere Twilight Tour. I loved it so much I have immediately told all my friends this is a must do tourist attraction when in Rome. Our tour guide, Francesco, was friendly, fun, personable and knowledgable. Our group size was 7 people large. You will get to explore the Trastevere neighbourhood. You will see places you... More

The Trastevere was great. The food was awesome. And the guide, Jasmin, was perfect to bring it all together and provide the context of what we were seeing and tasting. Fantastic and work every penny!

This was definitely one of the best things to do in Rome. We walked through Trastevere, a really lovely part of old Rome. We made about 8 pr 9 stops and tasted the most delicious and succulent porchetta I have ever had. We also tasted suppli, gelato and pecorino. I would highly recommend this walking tour - lots of fun... More

We went as a group and met up with 7 others from around the world, then progressed through 8 stops to taste various foods and wines. Jasmin was a lovely host, and brought the Italian food experience to life. The next day we repeated some of the stops ourselves, and found the restaurants to be top class. On return to... More

I was in Rome for 3 days and wanted to experience too many things, but once I found Eating Italy, I found a way to see 2 neighborhoods, find out about the food scene in each and taste some amazing Italian food. I did the Twilight Trastevere Food tour the day I landed and, even with jet lag, was so... More

I took the Twilight Trastevere Tour with our wonderful tour guide Sara. She is knowledgeable about the city, the Trastevere neighborhood, the restaurants and the food. I particularly enjoyed the cultural tidbits, historical factoids and back stories about Rome and Romans that she shared with us during the tour. Highly recommended. We stopped at: - Da Enzo (antipasti) - Ristorante... More

My family- including a 12 year old and 9 year old loved the tour! It had plenty of variety, taste and was fun to have 6 folks/others along to giggle with. Every stop was different and original (market place, hole is the walls, factory) with a little story to accompany. We ended up with a sit down, light meal of... More

First time in Rome, so we struggled to find authentic non-tourist rome food. Really glad that we went on this tour. Francesco was great! He is not only knowledgable but also gave us some tips to how to spot a good rome food. We went back to couple of the places we went on the tour. Will recommend!

Staying in Testaccio

Neighborhood Profile
Testaccio
Put the house music on replay and you have Testaccio, an ancient Roman port and former working class neighborhood where the bass is set to high almost every night of the week. Its collection of discoteche (nightclubs), street parties, and crowded restaurants give it its well-deserved party reputation. During the daytime, Testaccio is more easy listening than club hit, the area is full of locally owned small businesses and has one of the city's larger produce markets.
