Wow!!! The small platform that was built several years ago at 'ground' level really helps with the perspective of where the animals and gladiators (prisoners)were kept. I would definitely go with a tour guide who can give you such info as to where people sat as well as the constuction details.

If you just swing by on your own, unless you are a historian you will only get this impression; it is a series of historical ruins and nothing else, just remnants of a time long gone. If you're like me and you like history but don't really have time to know it all on my own and book a tour,... More

The 12 euro entrance fee covers the Colosseo, Palantino and the Foro Romano and is valid for two days. Well worth paying, there is also a museum in the Colosseo. There are plenty of steps but also lifts if you have difficulty. We spent about three hours looking round everything. The Colosseo is unbelievable, you wonder how on earth they... More

Entry to these wonders costs 12 Euros (includes both) and you can use the ticket on 2 days, valid once for each Colesseum and Palatine Hill/Forum. This represents fantastic value as you can spend as much time as you like in each.

It is a MUST to visit the Colosseum, no words enough to describe the greatness of this historic place, no feelings enough to express the astonishing passion we felt standing in the middle of it, recalling scenes of history, or even the movies! It was truly amazing!

Great value for money! Buy your ticket online in advance. Once you get through the queues, the crowds seem to disappear in the colosseum, and we could have spent a lot longer on Palatine hill...it is a marvel! Little gem of a farmers' market to be found if you walk around Palatine on the outside, too. Great place to grab... More

We bought our combined ticket at the entrance to Palentine and the Roman Forum. No queue here. Very good value at 12 euros! It was also a two day ticket which we hadn't realised - we visited on our last day so couldn't go back the next day! I think it would be good to have a guide to explain... More

The vast nature of this hill. Tucked away behind. The bustling streets, roads and crowds of the Eternal City, was just an amazing & pleasant surprise. I was awe struck with the visit into Emperor Augustus home and his wife's own house too, The House of Livia. For the latter, the uninspiring walk down the entrance stairs does not prepare... More
