We spent a delightful Sunday afternoon doing the 4-hour Appian Way tour with our congenial guide Greg and a small group of British tourists. I can't recommend this activity highly enough. The history, scenery and company made this a highlight of our trip to Rome.

Having enjoyed bicycle tours in other cities before, we plumbed for Red Bicycle based on other favourable reviews. There were 6 of us plus guide and we managed to survive the crazy traffic and cobblestone streets to see some amazing views and learn more about the fascinating history that abounds. The bikes were in good order, helmets supplied if you... More

We love touring the places we visit by bike. This one was outstanding! Demetrios gave us the coolest history lesson ever while taking us to the highlights of Rome. The ride along the river was magic and we were taken along little back streets and alleys that were so interesting. The Pantheon was a stand out and Demetrios gave a... More

Glen took myself and three friends on a great evening tour of Rome. The trip up to the rose and orange gardens above the Circus Maximus was great since we would have never gone there our selves. We were impressed by the weaving in and out of the crowds since we went through quite busy tourists areas, but the guide... More

So a group of five women celebrating three of their 60th birthdays turn up for the tour of Rome. After a few minor adjustments we set off and have a lovely trip through the city walls out into the parkland surrounding Rome. A visit to the catacombs off via a farm complete with goats and bells and then on to... More

My fiancé and I recently visited Rome and had the pleasure to experience the afternoon tour of Appia Antica, the Roman Aqueducts and Catacombs with Musa. What a great great tour! I am so glad we went on this tour and highly recommend it to others. Musa was a terrific guide, navigating us safely through the streets of Rome, to... More

We booked the Appian Way tour and had a great trip along the historic road, to the ancient christian catacombs and finally to the aqueducts. Our guide Musa explained the historic details and savely led us through traffic. Without this tour we would have missed this beautiful and quiet area of Rome!

We did the full day tour. We expected the city tour to be in the morning (would make a lot of sense as the saturday afternoon the city is way too crowded) and the apia tour in the afternoon, but when we arrived apparently they had decided to swap the order. We were not informed but found out soon when... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Unfortunately your guide in the afternoon was kept waiting by another couple who made everyone late. Hence he did not come to pick you up from the restaurant by the said time. My apologies for not responding to your text message as I called the guide instead and was told... More

We loved the Appian Way tour. Bear in mind it is 18 miles or so and the terrain is not the easiest, so this requires some fitness, but it is well worth the effort! Got to see some unique parts of Rome and enjoyed the tour. We would highly recommend making this part of your trip!

We had a great tour that took in areas of Rome we would never have found and want to explore for the future. Bikes were comfortable and the speed was fine for us. Glen was a real pleasure to cycle with and took us around with skill without being over heavy on the history side which we have done several... More

Staying in Monti

Neighborhood Profile
Monti
Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighborhood just west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet for the artsy, alternative, and hipster. Every season, quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its cobblestone streets. The neighborhood supports unique and homegrown businesses that cater to its longtime residents as well as hipsters on the hunt. Hang out at Piazza della Madonna dei Monti anytime after lunch and you'll always find something going on.
