It was raining when we went and the water came down the hole in the ceiling (the oculus). It was terrific. The area on the floor was roped off to stop people slipping and you look closely you can see small holes where the water goes down. Nice surprise to find the last resting place of Raphael. more

We went to the Pantheon on Wednesday morning, I would recommend it as a great time to go as the Papal audience happens on Wednesday morning and thousands of people flock to that. We continue to the Pantheon and get there around 10:45am. It is not busy- yay! I listen to my audio guide and take it all in. Definitely one of the sites you must see in Rome. It is beautiful inside and majestic on the outside. The piazza here is also a great place to stop and have lunch. (If the Pantheon is a bit crowded, duck down the sidestreet towards the Church of Sant'Ignazio Di Loyola, by the way.) more
