A beautiful Basillica that was the precursor for St. Peter's. Do not miss visiting the little non-descript building across the street which contain La Scala Santa and the Sanctum Sanctorum, two sites which must be seen and which do not take more than 30 minutes.

I just love this church. Magnificent exterior and interior. Moreover the Piazza in fron of the Basilica, Piazza Giovanni Paolo, is also very beautiful. The gem however is the Basilica itself. You cannot but admire its marvellous architecture. Totally recommended!!

Magnificent building. Tremendous site in the middle of the city. Great area to walk around, to sit and admire the buildings. Nice restaurants.

This is one of the four Vatican Basilicas, and if you are interested in ancient Catholic history, it is a must- see. It was the original basilica I. Rome for the Catholic Church prior to the building of Saint Peter's Basilica. Next door are the stairs thought to have been used by Christ when he was going before Pontious Pilot.... More

This is the site of the first official Christian church in the world. It is full of history, medieval mosaics and baroque art, and other artistic treasures. It even includes the heads of St Peter and St Paul, and, from what I have read, they have a pretty good chance of being the real ones. It is actually the cathedral... More

Ok, you're in the city of churches, so why bothering about another one? Believe me, this one is not a simple another one. The masterpieces inside this Basilica are simply jawsdropping. The statues are incredibly big and perfect, giving you their feelings on their faces. Besides, it's huge and with a ceiling with lot of details you can spare several... More
