This is a must see in Rome!! There are tourists there but it is not so overrun by them that you can't enjoy yourself while taking in all the artwork and statues.

St John in Lateran was the primary basilica in Christendom before St Peters. That plus it's location in the centre of Rome, makes it a must for many visit to Rome.

Everyone should visit this historical basilica which is the cathedral of the Bishop of Rome- the Pope. It is the first of the four major basilicas of Rome built in the fourth century by Constantine the Great.

A bit off the beaten path but close enough to the coliseum for a side trip. We had the pleasure of being there for two services, one in the chapel and the second in the main church.

Nice church, one of the most beautiful in Rome. San Giovanni in Laterano can be easily accessed by Rome metro or if you have good legs you can walk from Colosseo to here without problems. The Basilica has an incredible papal altar. The Basilica visit is free but for cloister and baptistery visits you need to pay tickets. Combo tickets... More
