We bought our combo ticket at the Via San Gregorio entrance and finished our time at the Palatine. We come through the entrance to the Roman Forum. I break out my audio guide and start listening for awhile. I take lots of pictures as usual. Stop at the runs of the temples, stare at the amazing details of the arches,... more

We booked our tour through Real Rome Tours and are very thankful that we did! The Roman Forum is nothing without the history behind it and the tour guide did a great job explaining. Any visitor to the forum will notice that the forum of today is not that of ancient Rome. A tour of the Forum requires a great... more

As many people are noting, it is very confusing without a guidebook or audio tour - something it is hard to know until you get there. Our family just wandered around in the VERY hot sun, feeling confused and annoyed - at the very least you should be given a map of the site with your entrance fees! We had... more

One of the amazing things-to-do at Rome, it's really a masterpiece of ruins. You will appreciate the art, architecture, and history in this place. You can access it using compo ticket for Colosseum , Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill. The gate for entering this place is in 200 meter from the arch of Constantine, you go along the road until... more

We spent hours in the Forum, steeping ourselves in history. The Forum entrance across the street from the Colosseum is now exit-only, so we went to the north entrance at Via dei Fori Imperiali. What a thrill to stand where so much that shaped our modern culture took place! And it was very picturesque this May, with the poppies and... more

Please visit the Roman Forum. Prior to your trip, go to www.ricksteves.com and download his free map and audio tour of the Roman Forum. The self-guided audio walking tour lasts about 1 hour and helps to decipher what you are viewing. The audio tour is entertaining and informative. Ancient Rome is truly amazing and would not be complete without a... more

The entrance by the Arch of Constantine is now marked "exit only". I would suggest trying an entrance to the right, down the street. We went left and ended up by the Palatine Hill. It meant we spent most of our time here searching FOR the Forum instead of exploring it. more

I studied Classics at university so was very excited about going to see the Roman Forum, have to say though that it was a bit of an anticlimax. Apart from some amazing arches, there's so little of it standing - a column here, a stone there - that you really need to be able to use your imagination to really... more

This is a great free attraction, so take advantage of it by knowing what you're looking at. There are tours you can take, but I personally just read from a detailed DK Journal that mapped out what each monument was. It was hotter than heck when I went (mid-May), so definitely bring some bottled water! Take lots of pictures, and... more

Toured in November, 2007. As a history lover, this was one of my favorites. The skeleton remains of so many buildings makes you wonder and imagine the impressiveness of it in its day. I'd definitely recommend a guided tour or at the least an audio tour. I had a guide book with but it wasn't enough. There are only small... more
