We went to the Trevi Fountain on Wednesday morning and it was definitely the best time to go as it wasnt that busy and there was loads of opportunity for photos and to toss the coins. They were a lot of flower sellers and people trying to make you pay to have your photo taken, they are very persistent but... more
You have to see this, it is amazing. We actually came back later in the day just to see it again. They say if you throw in a coin you will return to Rome -- so we threw in a bunch! I only wish we could have seen it lit up at night. more
There's not a lot to say. A beautiful work of art. Be sure to throw in a coin to insure your return to Rome! more
in fact it is pretty good and the crowds of people are very friendly . It is corny but really worth the effort GT more
I highly anticipated my walk to the Trevi fountain. But perhaps I had gone at the wrong time of the day....~6pm, and the place was overcrowded, so much that you would not be aware of the fountain's charm. Somehow the Trevi Fountain manages to be more than the sum of its parts. I guess part of it is the magnitude, it is pretty sizable compared to most fountains, and the sculptures make it even more impressive. I hate to say it but I think the film "Three coins in a Fountain" has probably made this attraction what it... more
Very beautiful and very impressive day or night. It does get busy though. Me and my wife got up at 4am and went. I'd recommend doing this. We were about the only people there but there is always police there too so it's not unsafe even at that time of night. more
Trevi Fountain (Fontana di Trevi) It a gorgeous fountain and is a must see if you are in Rome. Ignore all the cynical élites’ who say it not old enough to be considered an important Rome site. Hi, I live about 500 feet from the fountain, on Via del Lavatore. When my family bought the apartment in the early 80s this was one of the most beautiful and romantic spots in Rome. Mass tourism combined with greedy shopkeepers and a careless local govenment have probably ruined the place forever. All the roads that lead to the fountain... more
