Late August 2013 our extended family of 7 arrived from Australia to Casperia to stay at La Torretta. The owners of La Torretta organised for us to wander down for a private tasting to Johnny's little gecko grotto/wine bar on our second evening. As soon as we met Johnny we felt so welcomed and inspired to learn what he passionately... More

Johnny's tour is a must do for any visitor to Rome. We had a wonderful day visiting the Sabine Hills, learning about Olive oil, eating, drinking....Johnny is a delightful host, we felt like guests, not tourists. His 5 star rating is well earned, and well deserved. The olive oil we brought home is my favorite souvenir and the scent of... More

The wine, the oil, the exquisitely presented edibles, and the beautiful views of quintessentially Italian hilltop villages in the golden afternoon sunshine all blend seamlessly together. Johnny Madge’s Olive Oil Tour is an object lesson in seriously advanced relaxation. As we drifted around the bucolic Sabine hills in a pleasantly alcoholic haze, succumbing to the soporific effects of the gourmet... More

I owe a big thanks to tripadvisor reviewers for 'convincing' me to go on Johnny Madge's olive oil tour. My mom was interested in an olive oil tour so I did a search and found Johnny Madge. I wasn't sure if we had the time since it would take an entire day and we were only in Rome for three.... More

Johnny's tour is totally worth your time and money! Not only do you learn - you have the opportunity to taste all sorts of delicious olive oils, wines and eat a scrumptious, memorable lunch. Johnny's knowledgable, passionate and laid back. He's open to questions and has a terrific sense of humor. Casperia feels like worlds away from Rome even though... More

Just an hour outside of Rome, in the Sabine Hills, lies the medieval hill town of Casperia, famous for … well, I’m not sure that it’s actually famous for anything. In fact, when we were in Sicily and told people we were moving on to Rome and then Casperia, they just stared blankly at us. Casperia? Where’s that? Even in... More

Spectacular is the only word to describe the tour with Johnny. The countryside views were picture perfect and what you think of when you think of Italy. The small town of Casperia was charming and such a great break from the hustle and excitement of Rome. Johnny was a wonderful host from the time he picked us up at the... More

You can't go wrong with Johnny and this special day in the Sabine Hills. We were only in Rome for a few days, but after reading all the reviews here on TripAdvisor decided to splurge our time and resources on this tour; well worth every minute and penny! Without going into a blow-by-blow of our day, suffice it to say... More

We highly recommend Johnny Madge's Olive Oil Tour! We took the train from Rome to Poggio Mirteto Station, which provided us with a welcomed, wonderful way to take a break from the hustle of Rome during our 12-day vacation. The countryside of the Sabines is lush and interesting. Johnny's passion, knowledge and humor are palatable. He provided us insight into... More
