For me a large part of traveling is getting an in-depth exposure to the history and culture of the country and city being visited. To accomplish this I have found using the services of a qualified guide to be the best answer. In Rome this month my wife and I used Context Rome for our visits to the Colosseum, Palatine... More

Jose Grave De Peralta hosted us on a marvelous tour of the Borghese Gallery. He did an amazing job helping us navigate a busy museum. With only five in our group, he was able to give us individual attention. I would highly recommend this tour with Jose. He was extremely knowledgeable and even brought additional materials for us to view.... More

We have had the pleasure of going on a number of Context Tours in Rome and Florence in the past years, which has always greatly enhanced our enjoyment of the cities. Context always provide wonderful guides, always experts in their fields, and limit the size of the group to no more than 6. This time I took the tour "The... More

If you enjoy history, Context will not disappoint. We booked two Context tours in Rome and one in Florence, hugely appreciative of the docents' grasp of their subjects, not surprising considering their PhD qualifications. Eric walked us through the Colosseum covering not just the history, but the architecture, politics and propaganda, entertainment, power struggle and so much more. Our questions... More

We went on two Context tours on our recent trip to Rome: The Jewish Ghetto tour and the First Church, Lateran & Early Christianity, both were excellent. Liz, our Jewish Ghetto guide, obviously loved giving tours & even offered to go another hour with us! She is a architect & professor in Rome & knew her Roman history. Eric, our... More

What a totally outstanding four hours! Nina was an absolute gem who made ancient Rome come to life. She is an archeologist who's the lead on a dig, teaches at university and works as a tourguide in the high season – plus she's engaged to Russell Crowe! (Standing joke in her presentation because "Gladiator" is a point of reference in... More

It was our first time going to the Vatican so we decided that if there was going to be one place in which we wanted to have a great guide, it was this. It exceeded our expectations. Our guide was Alessandra Poli and not only you could tell she mastered her field, but she spoke perfect English and she was... More

Excellent, informative, interesting tour and a brilliant guide. A very knowledgeable guide. Dony was the most incredible tour guide we’ve had in all of our Context trips in Europe. He was pleasant, knowledgeable, fun and certainly enjoys doing his job! Really great walk with the most incredible sights of the Colosseum in a private tour, it was almost like being... More

Another terrific Context Rome tour, this time focusing on medieval mosaics in three churches: Santa Maria Maggiore, Santa Prassede and Santa Pudenziana, all within a few minutes walk of each other. The docent, Dr. Lauren Golden, was informative and entertaining all at the same time. She explained the changing face of early Christian art and the relating social changes occurring... More

Gregory, a native of R.I. who was getting his Master's degree in theology in Rome was our docent. He was friendly, professional, and offered a wealth of information about the Vatican and the art inside St. Peter's. We learned an awful lot from the tour and recommend it highly!
