Context provides an in-depth alternative to traditional tours. Context's Rome walking seminars are an alternative to typical guided tours. With over 50 different walks led by Ph.D. or MA-level scholars, and with the smallest group size available—only six people. Context is much more than a walking tour of Rome.

We took the Early Church tour (St. John Lateran, etc.) This was by far the best, most engaging 3 hours we spent in our whole week in Rome. The guide, Richard, was vastly superior to other guides we had with other companies. He is a real intellectual with complete command of the details of history (Can you believe he actually... More

We did our tour with Val. He was great! It was a four hour tour and there was never a dull moment. We were lucky because it was not very crowded so we got to see everything and we were able to take our time and not get rushed due to crowds.

Our tour was wonderful. Our tour guide Jason was very knowledgeable. It was a nice slow walk able to accommodate many people. The headsets were great so that we had no trouble hearing what our guide was saying even with other people around. I would highly recommend this tour company.

Our small group tour of this amazing sight was perfect. Our guide was knowledgeable, personable and very responsive to the specific interests of the group.

We were lucky to have Cecilia as our guide through the Colusseum, the Palatine Hill, and the Forum for our family of 4, including our two teen-aged kids. She hit the perfect note between historically factual, interesting, and fun that kept all of us engaged during the 4 hour tour. It was particularly great to have her as our guide... More

I did the Arte Vaticano small group tour of the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel and St Peters. It was brilliant and I would highly recomment it. For one thing it saves queuing for literally hours for a ticket for the museum, and for another, with a very small group (5 in my case) I didn't feel I was being herded... More

Our family of 6 (ages 44, 44, 16, 14, 12, and 9) did the Roma Antica tour in late December with Livia. Livia was fantastic. She made the topic interesting for all of us and was careful to include all of the kids in the discussion. Livia, an archeologist, was not only extremely knowledgeable but also adept at communicating the... More

If you are planning to go to the Vatican, you must have a tour guide to understand and fully appreciate what you're seeing. Context Travel had an excellent tour and our guide, I believe her name was Valeria, was absolutely excellent. She crammed in more stories, facts, historical data and humor than you could imagine possible. I cannot recommend her... More

My wife and I toured the Galleria Borghese, escorted by Jose Grave de Peralta. Jose is an excellent storyteller, placing the artists and their patrons in time, space, history and technique. The extent of the collection and the size of the museum is overwhelming and I've often felt a little dumb in similar venues when just shuffling past thousands of... More

Joined the Roma Antica - 4 hours tour Small group with only 4 people Started at 9am and ended at 130pm. Went to Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill First time joining a Context Travel tour. Have heard so many good things about it (how it was better and more in depth than the other tours). Its high price can... More

Monti
Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighborhood just west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet for the artsy, alternative, and hipster. Every season, quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its cobblestone streets. The neighborhood supports unique and homegrown businesses that cater to its longtime residents as well as hipsters on the hunt.
