We arrived in Rome on June 6, 2015 and met Tommaso at the Colosseum. He was so friendly with the kids and knowledgable about Rome and the Colosseum. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and our history lesson. My kids loved the App he showed them in Ancient Rome which showed the before and after pictures. On June 7, 2015, we... More

Our tour guide Vera, was informative and friendly. Would highly recommend a private tour as the way to see Rome.

Selecting Private Tour of Rome for our Vatican tour was the right decision. Although we did it for my 86-year old mother who was touring with us, our experience was beyond expectations. Luca -- our Private Tour guide -- is knowledgeable, enthusiastic, noticing and conveys so well his own knowledge and love of the Vatican that we came away inspired... More

Linda and the people at Private Tours of Rome were very good to work with online as we planned our trip. Very informative from the start of planning till the days that we toured! Laura provided an incredible tour of the Colosseum and the surrounding palace ruins. Francesca followed the next day with an excellent tour of the Vatican and... More

Our family of 5, including 3 teenagers, spent 20 glorious days exploring and enjoying Italy. We hired a few private guides along the way to help enhance our experience. (Roman forum area, Assisi, Pompeii, etc.). We all agreed that Veronica was by far our favorite tour guide. She was charming, polite, and spoke excellent English. She really knew how to... More

After my cruise was over, I visited Rome (my first visit to this beautiful city). Prior to my trip, Linda was very prompt in responding to my e-mails and a great help in assisting me to obtain tickets to all 3 sites. I purchased the tickets months before my trip. I visited each site at 9:00 am on 3 different... More

We are a family of 5 ( 2 adults and 3 teen boys) I prebooked this tour for our shore day excursion in Civitavecchia. Let me first say they were excellent to work with online ahead of time. Rapid response and paid attention to detail. They gave me instructions on when to prebook my tickets for the Vatican and Coliseum.... More

We arranged this tour online several months before we arrived in Rome via a cruise ship. The communication from Linda during the booking process was very good and did not require a credit card to reserve. We were picked up promptly at the port in a very nice Mercedes van & transported to Rome where we met out guide Luca.... More

We selected this company based on reviews we read. We were picked up by our driver at the ship when we docked at Civitavecchia. As we drove into the city he gave us many details. Traffic was heavy but he seemed to know a few short cuts. We arrived at the Colosseum to meet our guide, Laura. She was great.... More

Very good day, was extremely glad we decided to book a private tour, in place of larger (cheaper) commercial tours. Alisa was very knowlegable, extremly pationate about her craft. Anyone who is a history buff, I certainly recommend it. Had teenage boys, so at points it did seem more like a history lesson or lecture, and less of a "pop... More

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighborhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighborhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighborhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
