Beware of the Pompeii and Naples day tour

Did the Vatican tour with Max as our guide and he was brilliant. He was informative, funny, knowledgeable and we had an amazing afternoon. We then booked an afternoon in Tivoli and had Luigi as our guide. Luigi is a very nice man but the whole tour seemed very rushed and we couldn't hear what he was saying. We didn't... More

Firstly I should say that myself and my girlfriend did enjoy this tour, but there were many flaws! Beginning at 7.30 am, the tour bus gets on the road for a long journey from Rome to Naples. Understandably this journey takes over three hours, but with the many rest stops and the drive around the city of Naples, it just... More

As it was particularly hot during our August visit to Rome we succumbed to the ticket sellers and bought a 48 hour ticket for the hop on, hop off bus. We struggled to find audio ports that worked and spent far too long at some of the stops waiting for goodness knows! When we left the bus to explore the... More

We wen't with them to Pompeii... It was terrible!!!! When we back, they let us waiting for hours in a parking in Napolis, far form everything, with nothing to do but being in the bus. We couldn't even go to see the city so that we could spend the time in a better way... We have to wait more than... More

Having done a few of these in different city this one was ok nothing special not bad. They offered various prices....22 euro for 24 hours... 18 euro for one day and 15 euro for one loop. They did the one day for 15 euros. Tour last about 2 hours with 10 stops but at each stop you have to wait... More

Took a tour to Pompei and it was a bad experience. Booked a tour in english and ended up having to listen to the guides in spanish and german also while riding on the bus which became a big nuisance after a point. The sight seeing in Naples is worthless as you dont get to enjoy anything while on the... More

Visitors to Rome should avoid this tour. Where do I begin? Dirty buses, audio points which do not work are just the beginning. The commentary is inane, irreconcilable with the places passed, and basically just one long music track. The bus does my appear to follow the designated route. The best joke is the "free water" which is available following... More

This tour was not very good. The buses were old and the first one broke down. There is no air conditioning and Rome can be very hot. The system for getting on and off the bus is antiquated and most of the time the audio commentary didn't work, yet they charge an additional euro for headsets. I would not use... More

This was an excellent tour for the price. The tour guide Franco Lattughi was very informative, concerned and responsible. His expertise was impressive, he encourages questions, though most of the time, no one had any. You must take a tour and skip the lines or you will literally be in line for at least 4 hours. The groups are large,... More

We did the bus tour as recommended by our hotel and spent a lot of time in heat with no audio whatsoever waiting at stops ( 2 with stops of 10 and 15 minutes ).They are also expensive compared to others I have subsequently realised. . . Maybe now too relaxed as hotels giving them a lot of income from... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
