Seeing is believing when you visit Pompeii and see for yourself the incredible devastation caused by a volcano. Archaeologists have uncovered amazing secrets of civilization and daily life of so long ago. We really enjoyed our 2 hour guided tour of the highlights. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and interesting.

I loved that the cruise port is walking distance to the city center for shopping. There is also a beach and a beautiful view of the Volcano in pompeii. I highly recommend a visit to the beautiful city of Naples and do have their pizza, wine and gealato.

Great half day tour. Guide was wonderful and all the arrangements were good - no confusion about times or pick up points and they rang our hotel to double check everything. No complaints at all and would definitely recommend - booked in the UK before we got to Naples.

This is a must for any visitor to Italy, i took the tour from Rome and it was fantastic, although the bus trip was 3 hours each way, it was comfortable with a great rest stop, and really informative guides on the bus, Pompeii is absolutely amazing, and mount Vesuvius is a great climb, the first 10 minutes are extremely... Any tour to this place would be spectacular, but our tour guide really made this one! The bus left very early and it would have been less tiring if they had organised a pick up from the hotel. It is constant walking on cobbled streets, so not having to walk to the buss and back would have made a difference

I loved Pompeii. I am a volcano fanatic so I might have enjoyed it more than most but it is incredible to see, really, really, incredible. The cast figures of the bodies, the houses, the streets - all so well preserved and real. The graffiti on the walls is even still intact. The tour was well worth it as things... More

We enjoyed a two hour tour of Pompeii. Such amazing sites history! I would recommend wearing sunscreen and brings hats/visors as it gets very hot and there is little shade, also involves a lot of walking and some steps...

I booked this though my hotel and was lucky to get in at last minute. Did Pompeii with lunch of traditional Margarita Pizza, tour of Naples Museum. Tour was all day and we stopped for a coffee at a souvenir shop (on way and back to break up trip). Sarah was one the guides on this tour and was very... More

First things first, Pompeii is absolutely amazing! An incredible place with an eerie atmosphere, a MUST SEE!! But don't use these costly companies. Me and my girlfriend got a slow train from Termini to Napoli (2 1/2 hours) then a local train from Napoli to Pompeii (20 mins). The TOTAL journey (return for 2 adults) cost.......Wait for it....35 euros! not... More

Maybe next time we'll try the Vastours option, as we had a great Siena tour through that company. We booked a Dark Rome day tour of Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius. Pompeii itself was very interesting and worth doing (though I will say if you're pushed for time, Ostia Antica and the Roman Forum are closer to Rome and the ruins... More

Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighborhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighborhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighborhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 8pm.
