Paulo, Jill, and Stan were our guides for the colosseum, Palentine hill, and the Vatican museum. Could we have done without? Yes. But they held the attention of a teenager, made hours seem like minutes, and their enthusiasm for their respective areas was clear, we learned more than we would have on our own! I would definitely recommend them.

Having decided (like everyone else in Rome apparently) to go to the colosseum on the first Sunday of the month because it was free, we ended up paying €15 purely so we didn't have to wait in line for hours on end. After the colosseum tour, Elaine took us around the Roman forum. Not only is she incredibly well read... More

We were outside the coliseum in the long line when someone approached us about the coliseum tour for 25 euro and this included skipping the long ticket line so we decided to go for it. Boy are we glad we did! The coliseum tour was great, then to our surprise this also includes a tour of the roman forum with... More

We joined an English speaking group for Colosseum and Palatine hill. For Colosseum it was an Italian male guide who spoke very good English and was very enthusiastic. For Palatine hill it was Chad, an American guide with a very dark humour that worked well with the history at hand. Our group was about 10-15 person and felt about right.... More

Total waste of money, would not reccomend.Worst tour we have ever been on! The group was so huge approx 40 people with only one guide one helper Everything took so long to organise because the group was so large to get headsets ,toilet break etc . With the Vatican being so busy we were shuffled through like a group of... More

Having done a spontaneous tour of the Colisseum, Foro and Palatino with Roberto and Elaine from Rome 2 Tours I decided to book with Elaine to see the Vatican and St Peter's the following day. 3pm was definitely the best time to book it for, upon recommendation, as there were no annoying school or big group tours and nothing is... Feel bad reading all the other reviews, we had Chad show us round the forum and give us the lowdown on the early Romans, he was pretty cool, self deprecating and seriously deserves his own panel show on BBC 2. Funny guy. Then in the afternoon for the Vatican we had Elaine who showed us how to 'scooch closer' on... More

I really enjoyed the tour of the Colosseum. Information was put across with a lot of humour and fun. Very enjoyable.

So we had online tickets for the vatican museum and sistine chapel for the Wednesday! We bumped into an American guy outside the vatican on Tuesday. He informed us that we could upgrade to a guided tour for €25 each. This particular tour is normally €55, so we actually paid €45 each in total. We upgraded because, quite simply, I... More

We spoke with Romaround Tours' guide Christian after he finished a Roman Forum tour with a group. He was telling people he was able to do tours for individuals or small groups in the afternoons and would personalise it to whatever you wanted, which appealed to us. We organised to meet Christian the next day for an extended personal tour... More

Staying in Prati

Neighborhood Profile
Prati
Just steps away from the chaos of the center, Prati is the closest Rome gets to calm. Meticulously planned in a neat grid, quite unlike neighboring Borgo, Prati is a local favorite for its aesthetic organization and wide streets lined with a range of boutiques for every shopping fantasy. Nonnis pushing baby carriages and gossiping teens own every inch of the sidewalk, but that’s only during business hours. Once the sun sets, quirky sidestreet bars celebrate aperitivo hour, those evening cocktails that help wash away the tensions of Roman life.
