Description: When In Rome Tours is a collective of like-minded tourism industry...
When In Rome Tours is a collective of like-minded tourism industry professionals, comprising company directors, two business managers, several admins, and dedicated support staff. Our Rome tour guides are fully licensed and have been leading Rome walks for many years in both English and native Spanish. Instead of working for a corporate tours provider on a commission basis, we have worked our way up over the years to become Rome's leading independently established tour operator. There are no middlemen, book a Rome or Vatican walking tour with us and you will tour WITH US. In this way, you get value for money with no extra costs at any stage. Our guides are experts in their chosen field, be they art historians or archaeologists. Our primary aim is to deliver education about Rome and the Vatican in an enjoyable way, so we take great care to ensure that our guides are as personable as they are professional. Small group tours of Rome work well for everyone and they are our focus. If, however, you wish to book a fully private and exclusive tour, we have many private Rome tour options for you to consider. As a fully licensed tour agency in Rome, we have to bear considerable operating costs as anyone working in Italy will tell you, so we are very proud to announce that our prices continue to be as competitive today as they always have been. In order to be fully transparent, tour costs on our website include all tickets and all local taxes - there is never anything else to pay over and above the prices we publish online. One of our many guarantees is "skip the Vatican line". The same also applies to our ancient Rome tours - "skip the Coliseum line". You will always enter venues in Rome before everyone else on a Rome or Vatican tour with When In Rome Tours. Our reputation in Rome is second to none, and we are sent recommendations every day. When In Rome Tours strives to offer the best possible tours of Rome and the Vatican, and we will continue to pursue even higher service standards in future.

When in Rome tours was recommended to me by a friend and I'm so glad that they were. We split the two tours as we arrived in Rome at 1000, so did the Vatican tour starting that afternoon and did the Colosseum tour the next morning ( which they allow as long as you request when booking). Irene was out... More

Chiara was an amazing tour guide. She was very informative and helpful. My husband and I had been to the Vatican museum before but we learned much more this time. Chiara was able to get us in to Mass at the conclusion of our tour and that was what we wanted most of all. We lost very dear family members... More

I was staying just for one day in Rome. I hopped off from a bus when I was thinking I'd just take some photos from outside of the Vatican( seeing the unbelievable queue!) it was just a matter of chance that I got the offer for the Vatican tour. Giuliano was the best tour guide I've ever encountered and it's... More

As you walk towards the Vatican City you are often bombarded with people asking if you want a tour! When in Rome were the last just before entering the square, the rep was not pushy, gave us time to check the reviews on Trip Advisor. The tour for two was €92, which included entry to the Vatican Museum. Our Guide... More

We totally lucked out on this one casually walking towards the Vatican and came across Guiliano. He was so pleasant , passionate, knowledgable and took out so much time to explain all the intricacies of the history of the Vatican. We were extremely pleased and would highly highly recommend him. We wish him the very best always. Dr Suraj and... More

We arrived at the Vatican with the intention of 'Just taking some photos outside' as we could see the que from the end of the road and thought we may have passed out in the 38c temperatures. We were stopped by a When in Rome tours guide after getting off our bus and due to the que jump option we... More

Our tour guide Mauro provided a good balance of info and entertainment for the tour. He was also respectful of the sacred places and subtly encouraged us all to be the same. Classy and funny guy.

I didn't plan ahead going this, but the tour guide Giuliamo was really good and pointed out many things I would noticed, so I experienced much more at the guided tour than walking bymyself. Tour took about 2,5 - 3 hours and the price was 41€ for university student. The Vaticani Museum ticket would have been 8€, but I didnt... More

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighborhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighborhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighborhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
