Description: Real Rome Tours is a small team of local guides, licensed and experienced...
Real Rome Tours is a small team of local guides, licensed and experienced in giving guided tours of Rome in English. Rather than work for tour operators, we formed this company in order to cut out the middleman and work directly with our customers, thereby avoiding the commissions that tour operators add to our tour fees. Although we are all licensed guides in Rome and the Vatican, we all have our own areas of expertise. We have archaeologists, art historians, and university lecturers among our ranks, and as our reputation has grown we continue to invite similarly-qualified guides to join us. Our philosophy is simple: We believe that tours should be fun as well as informative. We also believe that our customers are best served in small groups. For this purpose, we strictly limit all of our group tours to only 12 people. Our fees are honest and reflect the small sizes of our groups. We include ticket prices in our tour fees where tickets are applicable, and we always skip the lines. Headsets are provided so you can walk around and still hear your live guide. Our customer base and reputation have been growing steadily over the past few years, and we promise to continue to strive to deliver the perfect Rome experience for all our future guests. We hope to see you on one of our tours in 2015!

You can very easily join a tour group of the Colloseum, get cattled in with the others, take that token photo to post on FaceBook, OR take the Real Rome Tours' Ancient Rome and Hypogeum Tour and actually begin to understand the history of this amazing structure. Our guide, out of sheer luck, was Federico (or Francesco?). Guess what he... More

Our tour guide, Sal, spoke amazing English and was super knowledgeable and personable! He took us down to the ground level of the colosseum and then to the highest tier as well! We had ample amount of time to snap pictures and ask questions. After the colosseum portion we went to palantine hill and the roman forum. Sal had pictures... More

My husband and I booked the Forum and Colosseum tour through Real Rome. This was by far the best tour we did in Rome. We did a Vatican tour with another company that paled in comparison to the quality and information we received on this tour. A lot of our experience was due to our terrific guide Ferdinando. He has... More

We did not have much time so decided on this tour and we were glad we did. it covered all the main sites in the space of a day .Our guide was very informative and explained tirelessly, he recommended a good place for lunch too. It was a tiring day but well worth it.

We had a FANTASTIC tour with Niccola (sp?), our Real Rome Tour Guide. We met first thing in the morning and toured Rome until 5 in the evening. The communication leading up to the tour was excellent. It was incredibly easy to find the start of the tour near the Colusseum. The audio headsets were perfect, allowing all of us... More

We signed up with Real Rome tours for the Vatican tour and our guide was Alessi. Overall, I definitely recommend taking a tour of the Vatican Museum and skipping the line. However, we were trying to cover the museum, the Sistine Chapel, and St Peters in 3.5 hours and it definitely felt rushed. Alessi was a very knowledgeable and nice... More

Hello JR Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I am sorry that you felt the tour was a bit rushed. It is a concern of ours, when planning the tour, to not make it so, but with so much to see at the Vatican, it is impossible to find the perfect balance between including the most... More

This tour was a combo of a new opportunity and a very old location! We thoroughly enjoyed the knowledge and approach that our guide took with our group. He was super smart about the Colosseum, Palantine Hill and the Roman Forum. The tour was the right length of time, the highlights were fantastic and left both of us in awe.... More

With so many tour companies to choose from it was difficult to select one but from other positive reviews i chose Real Rome Tours and turned out to be the right choice. Their site is clear and easy to understand. Upon confirmation i got a complete email detailing where to meet, time, what to bring etc. It was just me... More

Do not miss this tour - we did not purchase a tour in advance so it was a last minute scramble to find a tour that included the Underground. Real Rome Tours had some spots available for an afternoon tour and we booked it - best tour we had on our trip. Our tour guide, Ferdinando, was knowledgeable (and personable)... More

Staying in Monti

Neighborhood Profile
Monti
Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighborhood just west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet for the artsy, alternative, and hipster. Every season, quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its cobblestone streets. The neighborhood supports unique and homegrown businesses that cater to its longtime residents as well as hipsters on the hunt. Hang out at Piazza della Madonna dei Monti anytime after lunch and you'll always find something going on.
