Description: Real Rome Tours is a small team of local guides, licensed and experienced...
Real Rome Tours is a small team of local guides, licensed and experienced in giving guided tours of Rome in English. Rather than work for tour operators, we formed this company in order to cut out the middleman and work directly with our customers, thereby avoiding the commissions that tour operators add to our tour fees. Although we are all licensed guides in Rome and the Vatican, we all have our own areas of expertise. We have archaeologists, art historians, and university lecturers among our ranks, and as our reputation has grown we continue to invite similarly-qualified guides to join us. Our philosophy is simple: We believe that tours should be fun as well as informative. We also believe that our customers are best served in small groups. For this purpose, we strictly limit all of our group tours to only 12 people. Our fees are honest and reflect the small sizes of our groups. We include ticket prices in our tour fees where tickets are applicable, and we always skip the lines. Headsets are provided so you can walk around and still hear your live guide. Our customer base and reputation have been growing steadily over the past few years, and we promise to continue to strive to deliver the perfect Rome experience for all our future guests. We hope to see you on one of our tours in 2015!

Tour was 3 1/2 hours that included a three level tour of the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. Tour guides are highly knowledgable and professional. Tour also included audio headsets. We would highly recommend good walking shoes and bottles water from a reliable source. Would therefore highly recommend this operator if you want to beat the cruise operators extortionate prices!... My partner and I booked this tour online after researching guided tours of Rome and we were not disappointed. We were lucky enough that there was only 3 of us on the tour. Our guide was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and even gave us a book on great places to eat and other things to do that would be easily... More

We chose the 'Ancient Rome & Hypogeum Half-Day Tour' and enjoyed all of it, especially the parts that weren't accessible with a normal entry ticket (i.e. at the very bottom and very top of the colosseum). Our guide was Alex (Alessio?) who just knew everything and was happy to answer questions. It was tiring on the legs (lots of steps)... More

We took two different tours with Real Rome Tours while visiting Rome--visiting the Vatican first and then the Colosseum (with underground)/Forum/Palatine Hill. Although these tours are somewhat pricey, they are worth the added expense. Signing up for these tours allows you to skip all lines (and there are many in Rome!), which was a real blessing in the blazing heat... More

We booked our trip to Rome at quite late notice and naively thought that booking a tour of the Colosseum et al would be simple. How wrong we were! having tried numerous other operators (unsuccessfully), we happened across Real Rome tours (who didn't appear at the very top of our Google searches) who had a slot available on the day... We booked two private tours with this company. Our first tour, we wanted to do the "Real Rome Tour" but with the addition of also viewing the underground colosseum as well as Palatine Hill. The company created a custom itinerary for us to do this-- it was the best! Our guide for this was Arianna (spelling?). We could not have... More

Great experience. We only had one day to be in Rome so we booked with Real Rome based on other reviews. We booked the tour online and took the train to the Termini station then walked to the Colosseum (google maps) which took about 20 +\- minutes. Easy Walk. We passed all the lines and got to go onto the... More

Absolutely amazing. Our guide was sensational. We did the tour on Monday the 10th of August . The guide was a historian and knew so much. It was great to miss all the queues as well. I highly recommend this tour, well worth the money. Be prepared to do a lot of walking so wear comfortable shoes. Saw so much... More

After visiting the Vatican before I knew how busy it gets, so this time we booked the Vatican Early Bird tour for Friday 7th August and we can definitely recommend it! We arrived at 7.15am as it stated in the instructions and the tour started at 7.30am and, after a small wait at the entrance, we proceeded to walk through... More

We used Real Rome Tours to see the Colosseum and we had a great experience. Fabio was an amazing guide, and we really enjoyed our tour! He was organized with the information and presented it in a way that kept my large group engaged. We felt like we learned a lot during our tour and appreciated what we were seeing... More

Staying in Monti

Neighborhood Profile
Monti
Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighborhood just west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet for the artsy, alternative, and hipster. Every season, quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its cobblestone streets. The neighborhood supports unique and homegrown businesses that cater to its longtime residents as well as hipsters on the hunt. Hang out at Piazza della Madonna dei Monti anytime after lunch and you'll always find something going on.
