Owner description: Real Rome Tours is a small team of local guides, licensed and experienced in giving guided tours of Rome in English. Rather than work for tour operators, we formed this company in order to cut out the middleman and work directly with our customers, thereby avoiding the commissions that tour operators add to our tour fees.Although we are all licensed guides in Rome and the Vatican, we all have our own areas of expertise. We have archaeologists, art historians, and university lecturers among our ranks, and as our reputation has grown we continue to invite similarly-qualified guides to join us. Our philosophy is simple: We believe that tours should be fun as well as informative, so any guides seeking to join us must have an open and friendly disposition on tours, and be willing to assist our customers with any situation. A passion for Rome is mandatory. We also believe that our customers are best served in small groups. For this purpose, we strictly limit all of our group tours to only 12 people. This does not mean that we cannot cater for more than 12 people - if you have a private party and wish to stay together for an entire tour we can arrange for this - but for group tours we like to keep the groups small and intimate, so that you can engage with your guide and ask questions. Our fees are honest and reflect the small sizes of our groups. These are the fees that we would be paid from tour operators, but they add their own commissions on top so you will pay higher rates for the same service if booked through a tour operator. We include ticket prices in our tour fees where tickets are applicable, and we always skip the lines. Headsets are provided for groups of more than 5 people - if you are lucky enough to be in a group of 5 or less you will see that headsets are not required! Since our inception in 2008, we have received some great reviews on Tripadvisor, and we thank all of our previous customers, both for their repeat business and for recommending us to their family and friends. Our customer base and reputation have been growing steadily over the past few years, and we promise to continue to strive to deliver the perfect Rome experience for all our future guests. We hope to see you on one of our tours in 2014!

Hi had the pleasure of taking a guided tour with Fredinando. He was exceptional and took the time to explain the the different sights. He was opening and as I was by myself made me feel welcomed and included in the group. I would highly recommend Real Rome Tours and Ferdinando to any visitors to Rome.

This was hands down the best tour of our trip. The tour guide was superb! It was well worth every penny.

Great insight into the forums and the colleseum. Guides were thorough and knowledgable. Behind the scenes Colleseum tour was a great additional touch! Will use them again.

We visited Rome for the weekend in November, and having not been before and having limited time we booked the "Rome in a day" tour. We met with our tour guide Ferdinando on the Saturday morning, we even received text to remind us where, he was easy to find and our group was small (unlike the other tours we saw).... More

Cannot praise this experience enough. Me and my wife spent hours upon hours looking for a tour before we flew out and settled on these. We were not disappointed. Ferdinando was amazing and if he doesn't mind me saying(I'm glad archeology doesn't pay well) otherwise we would not have had this fantastic guide to take us around the most Amazing... More

We took a full morning guided tour of the Colosseum etc with this company. Guide's English was just ok but not good enough for a guide and he got muddled unfortunately. Very expensive tour. Not worth the cost. Guide was not engaging and answered questions in confusing around the houses way. Left baffled by answers. Just left it as asking... More

We took two tours with Real Rome Tours - Vatican City and The Colosseum. Both of our tours were with Ferdinando and he was AMAZING. He's a credentialed archaeologist who has probably forgotten more about Roman history than most people will ever know. His knowledge of the subject matter amplified the experience of each location by many degrees. It's easy... More

When I was looking at prices, it seemed expensive. But it was well worth the money. The first time I was in Rome, I thought it was ok. Andres was in absolutely great tour guide. He opened our minds to Rome history. Your are missing out if you do not take the tour. This tour ensured that our Rome vist... More

Ferdinando was excellent. He is friendly, a wealth of archeological knowledge and offered a great perspective of history as well as insight into being a modern day Italian living amongst such amazing history. He offered additional visual tools that enhanced our understanding and helped conceptualize how each site originally appeared. Without that it would have been challenging to get such... More

Nic provided education of an ancient era with deep insight and interesting little known facts. He obviously is not only interested in the subject of ancient Rome, but well educated. We enjoyed the afternoon while learning much about the culture of Rome - present and past. Recommend this tour for anyone interested in history. Definitely would do this tour again.
