Description: Real Rome Tours is a small team of local guides, licensed and experienced...
Real Rome Tours is a small team of local guides, licensed and experienced in giving guided tours of Rome in English. Rather than work for tour operators, we formed this company in order to cut out the middleman and work directly with our customers, thereby avoiding the commissions that tour operators add to our tour fees. Although we are all licensed guides in Rome and the Vatican, we all have our own areas of expertise. We have archaeologists, art historians, and university lecturers among our ranks, and as our reputation has grown we continue to invite similarly-qualified guides to join us. Our philosophy is simple: We believe that tours should be fun as well as informative. We also believe that our customers are best served in small groups. For this purpose, we strictly limit all of our group tours to only 12 people. Our fees are honest and reflect the small sizes of our groups. We include ticket prices in our tour fees where tickets are applicable, and we always skip the lines. Headsets are provided so you can walk around and still hear your live guide. Our customer base and reputation have been growing steadily over the past few years, and we promise to continue to strive to deliver the perfect Rome experience for all our future guests. We hope to see you on one of our tours in 2015!

We took the half day colosseum, forum, palatine hill tour which was about 3 hours of non stop facts, fun and insight from Max our guide. Very personable and knowledgeable. Skip all the lines and access the restricted entry areas of the colosseum (third ring/underground and upper tier). One thing to note is that Max's passion for the history of... More

We had a 3.5 hour tour with Alessia from Real Rome Tours of the colosseum and forum. It's a long tour, but Alessia makes it fun and informative. While going up into these amazing restricted access parts of the colosseum is just amazing in itself, I think a tour guide makes all the difference, providing context, history and fun. The... More

This tour was exceptional from the start. We were kept updated continuously by email after booking for 6 prior to travel about any changes that might occur and given excellent instructions about where to meet and when. The tour guide was highly educated and informative, giving information in a most enthusiastic manner, making the entire tour fun and enjoyable! The... More

Very interesting commentary on our way to the Vatican about Rome history. Well organized and left plenty time to explore on our own in the gift shop etc. Well worth the early rise of 7.30am. Thank you...

We enjoyed our tour with Francesca despite it being bit hot. The meeting locations, directions, number of people and tour description were perfect. We started on time, skipped the line (about an hour and a half at the Coliseum ticket booth). The underground private tour and the main Coliseum combined with the Forum and Palatine Hill were well worth the... More

It was my husband's first time to Rome and he really enjoys history so we decided to book the Underground Colosseum Tour with Real Rome Tours. Heidi was our guide - she was very kind and was incredibly knowledgeable about archaeology and Ancient Roman history. The tour was very enjoyable and we definitely would recommend doing the Underground tour at... More

If you only have 1 day in Rome this is the tour for you. Sabrina is a wealth of knowledge. Bring your walking shoes and be prepared to fall in love with Rome.

This was a GREAT tour that we would recommend to anyone looking to tour the Coliseum, Palatine Hills and Roman Forum! We booked the Tuesday, 23Jun2015, afternoon tour that went below and to the 3rd tier. Our main guide, Natalia, was excellent and very knowledgeable adding some information that was very interesting. The other guide, Alessia, was also very good... More

This was a great way to see the major attractions of Rome in, honestly, just one day. The Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Pantheon, the Vatican museum, St. Peter's Basilica and much more. There is quite a bit of walking but, I'm 60 and I made it with no problems. I felt we were able to see the major points... More

Staying in Monti

Neighborhood Profile
Monti
Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighborhood just west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet for the artsy, alternative, and hipster. Every season, quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its cobblestone streets. The neighborhood supports unique and homegrown businesses that cater to its longtime residents as well as hipsters on the hunt. Hang out at Piazza della Madonna dei Monti anytime after lunch and you'll always find something going on.
