Real Rome Tours is a small team of local guides, licensed and experienced...

Real Rome Tours is a small team of local guides, licensed and experienced in giving guided tours of Rome in English. Rather than work for tour operators, we formed this company in order to cut out the middleman and work directly with our customers, thereby avoiding the commissions that tour operators add to our tour fees.

Although we are all licensed guides in Rome and the Vatican, we all have our own areas of expertise. We have archaeologists, art historians, and university lecturers among our ranks, and as our reputation has grown we continue to invite similarly-qualified guides to join us.

Our philosophy is simple: We believe that tours should be fun as well as informative. We also believe that our customers are best served in small groups. For this purpose, we strictly limit all of our group tours to only 12 people.

Our fees are honest and reflect the small sizes of our groups. We include ticket prices in our tour fees where tickets are applicable, and we always skip the lines. Headsets are provided so you can walk around and still hear your live guide.

Our customer base and reputation have been growing steadily over the past few years, and we promise to continue to strive to deliver the perfect Rome experience for all our future guests. We hope to see you on one of our tours in 2015!

This tour was absolutely fantastic! We wanted a behind the scenes tour of the Colosseum and this was PERFECT! We got to go behind blockades and see different parts of it that you can't see by yourself and without waiting in line in the sweltering heat. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and taught us so much. This was our... More

We took a morning tour around the Colosseum / Palatine Hill, and an afternoon tour around the Vatican / St Peter's Basilica. Both tours were excellent - the guides were very knowledgable, the tours were fun, and the only downside was that you could spend a couple of days or more looking around the Vatican. Overall, I'd highly recommend Real... More

We had only a full day in Rome (arriving the day before and leaving the day after) and wanted to make the most of our limited time. What a great decision to take this tour. The Coliseum (and its history)? Check. The same with the Forum, Caesar's death location, the Vatican , Sistine Chapel -- we saw all that could... More

Worth the extra cost to get better insight and avoid the queues. Access to the depths of the colosseum, nowhere is out of bounds

Even though are tour was rained out, it was excellent. Our guide was fantastic and the part of the tour that was rained out was reimbursed. We would go again if we are ever in Rome and we recommend it to everybody!

This tour group was wonderful! The actual tour took us every where. We only had a day in Rome and we really felt we got to see so much! We also made a mistake while booking our tour and accidentally chose the wrong date. They were great in accomadating us and fixing my mistake! My fault by not double checking... More

This trip was fantastic! We met outside of the Roman Colosseum at Constantine's Arch and then went into the Colosseum. This tour offered exclusive access to the third level and the lower level below the arena floor where the gladiators and animals were kept. It was very neat to be able to go down there and see what many have... More

Absolutely loved our tour and would book again when we next visit Rome! The guide was fantastic. We went on a couple of other tours of other part of Italy with other tour groups but this one was by far the best!

Staying in Prati

Neighborhood Profile
Prati
Just steps away from the chaos of the center, Prati is the closest Rome gets to calm. Meticulously planned in a neat grid, quite unlike neighboring Borgo, Prati is a local favorite for its aesthetic organization and wide streets lined with a range of boutiques for every shopping fantasy. Nonnis pushing baby carriages and gossiping teens own every inch of the sidewalk, but that’s only during business hours. Once the sun sets, quirky sidestreet bars celebrate aperitivo hour, those evening cocktails that help wash away the tensions of Roman life.
