Description: Real Rome Tours is a small team of local guides, licensed and experienced...
Real Rome Tours is a small team of local guides, licensed and experienced in giving guided tours of Rome in English. Rather than work for tour operators, we formed this company in order to cut out the middleman and work directly with our customers, thereby avoiding the commissions that tour operators add to our tour fees. Although we are all licensed guides in Rome and the Vatican, we all have our own areas of expertise. We have archaeologists, art historians, and university lecturers among our ranks, and as our reputation has grown we continue to invite similarly-qualified guides to join us. Our philosophy is simple: We believe that tours should be fun as well as informative. We also believe that our customers are best served in small groups. For this purpose, we strictly limit all of our group tours to only 12 people. Our fees are honest and reflect the small sizes of our groups. We include ticket prices in our tour fees where tickets are applicable, and we always skip the lines. Headsets are provided so you can walk around and still hear your live guide. Our customer base and reputation have been growing steadily over the past few years, and we promise to continue to strive to deliver the perfect Rome experience for all our future guests. We hope to see you on one of our tours in 2015!

Booked small group tour - whole experience excellent. The tour was well organised and our Guide was fantastic - the tour went well and we all survived despite extreme heat. Stops for coffee, water and lunch also make this achievable and I'm in my sixties... Thanks Real Rome Tours!

This was a great tour. I would definitely recommend it if you're thinking of doing it. They keep the tour groups small as promised. My tour only had 8 people including myself and my friend which made the experience a lot better. We got to see the underground levels of the colosseum and had plenty of time to have a... More

In July, we joined Real Rome Tours for their Colosseum and Roman Forum tour. This was our second time touring with Real Rome Tours … last time was about 4 years ago, and our guide for the Vatican was excellent. She held a PhD in Art History from Case Western University, but was born and raised in Rome. As university... More

My family took the Rome in a day tour. It's a lot to pack in but it was excellent. Andrea the guide was genuinely a walking encyclopaedia of knowledge of Ancient Rome and art. He is so knowledgeable it is untrue. He knows the dates and the detail and I'm not just talking about the things he tells you but... More

We had a great time and learnt a lot whilst on our tour. Whilst the price was a little high, we found value in what we learnt and by not having to wait in the lines, particularly in the heat. We would definitely recommend the early bird tour as it is only tour groups that are allowed in at this... More

We chose Real Rome Tours for half day tours of the Colosseum/Hypogeum and the next day, Early Bird Vatican. Having flown 30hours to get to Rome we were determined to make the most of our tours. Real Rome Tours did this (albeit at a price) for us. To be able to explore the entire Colosseum and outer areas was great... More

We thought this was money well spent! A history of the colosseum explained in detail, a walk around the Roman Forum and various landmarks in Rome and Venezia Square before finishing in Piazza Navona for lunch. We then taxied over the the Vatican museum and toured the Sistine chapel and St Peters Bailica...all without lining up! A big walking day... More

Tons of factual knowledge but not boring at all, loved that the tours are in small groups so it is more intimate. Worth being able to skip all of the long ticket lines.

Hired this company for 2 tours - Vatican City & Ancient Rome & Hypogeum (both Half-Day Tours). It was easy to find the guide at our "meeting place". Glad we hired this company since it was an extremely busy time in Rome. Both guides were very informative and gave us time for water/washroom breaks due to it being so hot... More

Would not hesitate and use this company in the future, they were excellent. From booking to the instructions to the meet and greet, everything is first class. My wife and I did a tour of the Vatican with Andrea for three and half hours. He was excellent. His knowledge of the Sistine chapel, the ancient maps the Rafael rooms, the... More

Staying in Monti

Neighborhood Profile
Monti
Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighborhood just west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet for the artsy, alternative, and hipster. Every season, quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its cobblestone streets. The neighborhood supports unique and homegrown businesses that cater to its longtime residents as well as hipsters on the hunt. Hang out at Piazza della Madonna dei Monti anytime after lunch and you'll always find something going on.
