Description: Real Rome Tours is a small team of local guides, licensed and experienced...
Real Rome Tours is a small team of local guides, licensed and experienced in giving guided tours of Rome in English. Rather than work for tour operators, we formed this company in order to cut out the middleman and work directly with our customers, thereby avoiding the commissions that tour operators add to our tour fees. Although we are all licensed guides in Rome and the Vatican, we all have our own areas of expertise. We have archaeologists, art historians, and university lecturers among our ranks, and as our reputation has grown we continue to invite similarly-qualified guides to join us. Our philosophy is simple: We believe that tours should be fun as well as informative. We also believe that our customers are best served in small groups. For this purpose, we strictly limit all of our group tours to only 12 people. Our fees are honest and reflect the small sizes of our groups. We include ticket prices in our tour fees where tickets are applicable, and we always skip the lines. Headsets are provided so you can walk around and still hear your live guide. Our customer base and reputation have been growing steadily over the past few years, and we promise to continue to strive to deliver the perfect Rome experience for all our future guests. We hope to see you on one of our tours in 2015!

As luck would have it we decided to tour the Colosseum on the same day of a Marathon which had the Starting/Finish line near the Colosseum. Which meant for us total chaos, and massive crowds. Thank all that is Holy for Andrea and Real Rome Tours. From the moment we found our meeting point, everything was smooth sailing and a... More

This was the highlight of our trip. I can highly recommend the Real Rome tour. The guide was very knowledgable and friendly. We were allowed to go on the third teir, arena floor and underneath. This meant we were not with the main tourist crowds and there were about 8 people in our group. It was worth every penny.

What a fantastic way to see Rome. Very professional tour with so much information that you would never get if you chose to wonder about in-guided. The queue jumping was a huge benefit, they stretched as far as the eye could see. Would recommend this tour and company to anyone visiting Rome.

Kudos to Sabrina, a great guide. This is a relatively fast paced day long tour of Rome. It all went very smoothly. We had an extremely knowledgeable guide in Sabrina (try and get her). She is an art historian and knew the history of Rome inside and out. Our tour had 7 of us which was a nice size. We... More

Our guide was lovely. An archaeologist by profession, he guided us with knowledge and intellect. Skipping the entrance queue was huge benefit, and the microphone / earpiece arrangement worked very well. I have to say I was shocked by the lack of respect shown by many of the other visitors for the artefacts and environment! It may not be YOUR... More

The tour was fantastic. We did a half day your of the Vatican on 18th April. Our tour guide was excellent, very knowledgeable and also made the tour really interesting. The tour involves a lot of walking. I would definately recommend to any one thinking of visiting rome.

This is the ONLY way to see Rome. Our tour guide, Andreas, had knowledge that can only be described as encyclopaedic. Real Rome Tours are so professional and a pleasure to deal with; courteous and completely on the ball. If you want a walking tour guide, then this is the company to go to.

We booked a private 'Rome In A Day' tour and could not have been more happier with this choice. Our guide Niccolo was ideal - as a historian, he was able to provide us not only with historical facts and figures, but also incredibly interesting anecdotes and stories we would not have learned otherwise. All of our accommodations were met... More

What a fantastic tour we had with Andrea. He was so knowledgeable & really made this experience so special for us. If like me you were desperate to see all the main sights & soak up as much history as you can then this is the tour for you.

Neighborhood Profile
Monti
Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighborhood just west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet for the artsy, alternative, and hipster. Every season, quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its cobblestone streets. The neighborhood supports unique and homegrown businesses that cater to its longtime residents as well as hipsters on the hunt. Hang out at Piazza della Madonna dei Monti anytime after lunch and you'll always find something going on.
