The house of the faun is a perfectly preserved home in Pompeii. The fact that it was buried under ash and still looks this great in unbelievable! The statue of the child "dancing" that is in the center foyer is breathtaking, along with the beautiful mosaic floor art it is a prime example of the ancient Italian way of life.

At the Naples museum you see the valuable artworks but they do not prepare you for the size of this "villa". It is more like a housing complex of the times. Make sure you visit it when you go to Pompeii

The Casa del Fauno is a large and impressive residence with a nice courtyard. It has a replica of the statue of the dancing Faun. The original is on display at the National Archaeological Museum in Naples as is the original mosaic of the battle between Alexander and Darius.

The house is located on Via della Fortuna (this street extends from Via di Nola). It's best known for the statue of the Faun, but can also be identified by the "HAVE" mosaic welcome mat at the entrance. It's also well known for the famous ancient mosaic of the battle between Alexander and Darius. The original mosaic is on display... More

Certainly it is one of the major attractions of Pompeii, the home of the dancing Faun, famous and architecturally significant, of course, his own peculiarity is the small bronze statue visible. Unfortunately, this statue seems to be a copy of the original, however it is equally beautiful and evocative.

One of the few houses in Pompeii that you must see and actually can see becauseit wasn't locked up, like most. Must have been the nicest house aound back then. Two gardens with collonades, many rooms, the fountain with the faun. Also visit the museum in Naples to see the original statue of the dancing faun and the incredible mosaics,... More

The little bronze statue on the atrium I am told is a replica, the original being exhibited in the Naples National Museum of Archeology. You can buy a book at the entrance of Pompeii that shows the houses as they are NOW and how they looked 2,000 years ago.

This house is thought to be the largest (with approximately 3000 square meters of floor space) and one of the grandest houses in Pompeii. It is so large that it is hard to comprehend that you are actually walking through what was a house and not an outdoor park. Some of the items you will see, e. g., the huge... More

Visited as part of the Pompeii site and is not to be missed. The house is recognised by the great inscription on the footpath outside "Have" or welcome. The gouse not only boasts the faun but also the mosaic of Alexander the Great in battle with Darius. A very large house with the Peristyle laid out as it would have... More

Sort of stumbled upon this really. We weren't given a plan of the site when we entered and hadn't realised you had to get an audio tour outside so were working off of downloaded maps on my phone. It's one of the best buildings in the ruins I think with something of everything in the same place.
