We got a reasonably good sense of what a home in Pompei was like 2000 years ago from this location. The residents were well to do by Pompei standards, but at least we could get in to see it, unlike a number of other locations that were closed with no explanation.

Spent the longest time at the House of the Faun of all the houses in the Pompeii site, admiring the mosaic of Alexander the Great and generally basking in the ruined grandeur.

all other houses were not open ... disapointing. from what i expected to what i saw was very diferent !

This is the house where the body of the woman, still clutching her jewels, was found. It is also the largest house in Pompei. The frescoes are beautiful- you can see the original, and the original statue of the faun, at the Museum of Archeology in Naples (definitely worth a trip).
