This house showed the luxurious lifestyle enjoyed in ancient Pompeii. The faun itself is beautiful. The summer and winter dining rooms with their gardens show that the lifestyle was very civilised for the rich. It was a real peep into home life.

This house or villa is vast, certainly from a family that was affluent during Pompeii's hey day. It spans one whole block of the street, the mosiacs on the floors are wonderful and so well preserved. The statue of the Faun is in a pond, that was a water feature in its time.

There is so much to see is this house (even though the originals are now housed in the Arch museum in Naples). There are replicas of the Alexander the Great mosaic and the faun statue. Still a beautiful house, even in ruins. There was also a very pleasant man selling tiles of the chained dog (Cave Canem - a couple... More

This is fantastic. To think all them years ago they themselves were wise enough to create morals so that others were aware of their behaviour is fantastic. If you get drunk you'll be half human, half fawn, because you become ugly like a goat when your drunk. Love it!

Just thought I would tell you. This house is COOL. Go to the National Arch. Museum in Naples to see the things inside this house. Oh, don't forget to climb the active volcano...it is STILL SMOKING! No joke.

Not to be missed during your visit to the ruins. The original statue is in the Naples Museum but the replica will do. Visit the museum in Naples after your Pompeii visit to see a fine collection of artifacts.

While the original bronze statue of the faun and the most admirable mosaic floors are housed in the Naples Museum, the reproductions provide you with the opportunity to glimpse the splendor that existed 2000 years ago. This is a vast, luxurious villa with two peristyles, wonderful gardens and a dining room for every season. Visit early on your tour of... More

I don't know if the statue was saved at this real site but the mosaic floor is one incredible thing to see

It was closed, like so much in Pompeii and Herculaneum. They have to conserve, but feel they should warn you before you buy a ticket - or reduce the price a little. Otherwise - Herculaneum is easier, and more intact. Really gives the feel of how the romans lived - all classes, too...
