It is one or the largest home in Pompei, with a 3 000 m2 total area. The Dancing Faun and the Alexander mosaic have be recreated for the visitors. There are a few other beautiful mosaic. Most of the original artwork is now found in the Museo Archeologico Museo of Napoli.

There is something about the House of the Faun that I just loved. I don't know if it's that this Faun is still standing after the chaos of the eruption or that you can see the contrast of upper class living from that era. Either way, it's beautiful and mind blowing. Fascinating to imagine what life was like for them... More

Another good example of how the upper class of Pompeii lived before the disaster, being one of the lager dwellings on the site

The faun welcomed you in the centre of the reception lobby. Exquisite sculpture work which defines the word balance. This is only a replica of course, the original statue stored away safely somewhere, but you'd never guess. The villa itself is enormous. I believe it's the biggest one unearthed to date.

This baby takes entire block of Pompeii, it is much larger than other houses. It is one of the hellenized domus houses, with columns inside , and pilasters on each side of the entrance. Besides the statue of Faun, there is an interesting room with mosaic of Alexander Exedra on the floor. Don't miss. For more info and video go... More

During my school ages I saw the picture of Alexander the great in several books. When we arrived to Pompeii I have not realized that the original of the picture should be here. I found it by accident in the most luxurious ancient house I ever been. I was so much impressed by. I recommend for everybody to search for... More

This house showed the luxurious lifestyle enjoyed in ancient Pompeii. The faun itself is beautiful. The summer and winter dining rooms with their gardens show that the lifestyle was very civilised for the rich. It was a real peep into home life.

This house or villa is vast, certainly from a family that was affluent during Pompeii's hey day. It spans one whole block of the street, the mosiacs on the floors are wonderful and so well preserved. The statue of the Faun is in a pond, that was a water feature in its time.

There is so much to see is this house (even though the originals are now housed in the Arch museum in Naples). There are replicas of the Alexander the Great mosaic and the faun statue. Still a beautiful house, even in ruins. There was also a very pleasant man selling tiles of the chained dog (Cave Canem - a couple... More

This is fantastic. To think all them years ago they themselves were wise enough to create morals so that others were aware of their behaviour is fantastic. If you get drunk you'll be half human, half fawn, because you become ugly like a goat when your drunk. Love it!
