With its neoclassical stone facade that culminates with the statue of Vergine del Santo Rosario (carved in single block of Carrara marble) and heavily decorated with golden mosaics and bright colors paintings, this is the most important attraction of "The new Pompeii". The "Santuario" of Pompei definitely worths visiting. It is a large and monumental church in the center of Modern Pompei (yes, don't be surprise, Pompei is not only about ruins!) which has an important icon inside - Madonna di Pompei. You can also take an elevater to get up the tower of Cathedral and enjoy a beautiful panorama 360 degrees... More

The new city of Pompeii was as enjoyable to me as the old, with the Basilica at the center. Fascinating to learn about the conversion and charitable work of Blessed Bartolo Longo who is responsible for this large, lovely Basilica and the painting of Our Lady of the Rosary and the miracles attributed to God through it. Beautiful colours, a distinctly different feel to pompei ruins. Absoultely huge inside....with gold ceilings, deep blue pairings....wow!

We just happened to catch a children's chorus singing in the sanctuary, so our experiences was not the normal one, but very enjoyable. The grounds were beautiful as was the neighboring plaza.

This church can be seen as you exit the train station in the distance. Once inside you are immediately struck by the beautiful sculptures and murals above you. The art work is awe inspiring as your gaze is directed upward just as it is in the Vatican and St Peter's. For a little church in a little town, this one... More

Lovely church and nice little museum. Take the elevator to the top of the bell tower. Nice views. Minimal cost for a nice quiet experience

Always people in the church , i could not see it right because of the celebrations. Incredible the spirit of the place. You have to go.

This is a. Wonderful church right in the middle of town. It is the basis of the town square and makes the whole town feel right

We went up the bell tower for a small donation .. what fantastic views over new and ancient Pompeii. Don't forget to take your camera with you.
