I really like this town. It's laid-back attitude and charming main square make for a nice alternative to Rome. Visiting the ruins is great, but making the promenade in the evening while watching the sunset is a great, peaceful passtime.

This really is THE best ice-cream. Great family owned business, just opened in April 2012. All homemade on the premises. Rain or shine it's worth a visit. If you love ice-cream , you'll love Punto Freddo. On Via Lepanto just off the main Piazza. Enjoy.

Pompeii seems very poor and neglected, despite the high street clothes stores. (Though as nothing compared to Naples, that was a shock indeed). Everything covered in graffiti, rubbish everywhere, dirty and dilapidated, wasteland and the endless car horns (was amused to see signs prohibiting this!) Easily negotiated streets. Ruins within approx 10 - 15 minute walk from all points of the town. Level streets. Beautiful square and churches. Beware of children begging, followed by parents if they are not successful. Drivers tend not to pay too much attention to pedestrians

I knew none of this when I when to mass at the lovely cathedral...

Loved the atmosphere! At night in the town square in front of the Church dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Rosary, the town comes to life, with young couples courting, families walking. So much fun! Ps the gelatti was excellent and most definately homemade. Just down the street friom the hotel, there was a neat little shop. The...

The problem in Pompei is that they have a very strange time for opening and close shops. Sometimes you walk around and...
