Great on a clear day, a little pointless when it's cloudy. On a clear day there are the most stunning views of the bay of Naples and of course the crater is a must see. It's about 20 minutes uphill a about 40 degree incline. The grand is loose, so take walking shoes not things or sandals. Well worth the... More

It seems that nearly all tour operators include a trip to the mountain top, about twenty busses were parked. Only the last 100 meter climb you need to walk over the ash road to the rim. Fortunalely it had rained the day before so vapour came out of the sides of the crator. It is good possible to take the... More

Beautiful views of Pompeii from the summit, but a long walk to get there plus the bus ride. This took all morning and we only had one day allocated for Pompeii sightseeing. Made the trip to the ruins less enjoyable. More

This was such a rewarding climb, not that it is particularly strenuous, but to say you have climbed the volcano is kind of brag worthy. The views are amazing, but wouldn't recommend it if it is not a clear day. The bus to the top rom Ercolano was comfortable and despite people saying that the buses were unreliable, ours waited... Continuing from the title.. We went to Vesuvius as part of a full day excursion from the Amalfi Coast, to see Pompeii and climb Mount Vesuvius. We went with Sunland tour company in Amalfi who advertised half price entry for 18-25 year olds for EU citizens, which includes the UK. Pompeii was no problem, we showed our passports and got... The view of the summit is really impressive and is widely worth the efforts to reach there. The tour of the crater is possible with a guide. An advice : take some water and a hat. It can be very warm upthere. More

A bus tour takes you to the top.....or so you think. They say it is about a 20 minute climb to the summit but realistically that is for anyone who is in good physical shape. If you are not, then consider going on your own without a tour that has a time limit. I walked/ran the trail and barely made... More

If you get the chance to go here and hike to the top then please do it! The views are breath taking and the achievement of standing on top of the worlds current most dangerous volcanoe is fab for any holiday itnerary! I combined a trip here with Pompeii through Dark Rome tours - highly recommended. More
