These catacombes are huge and on two, if not three levels. Half of the area has yet to be dug into but what there is to see is very interesting. Our guide spoke pretty bad English so people whose first language was not English had difficulty understanding her, however she knew her subject and if you could decipher her tour... More

These catacombs are amazing, dating back to first centuries AD. The guided tour is the best four euros worth - our guide, Flora, said she has poor English but it was actually very good and her insights were fascinating, right down to the church at the end still used for baptisms and the occasional wedding. We found the directions in... More

I have been to all of the catacombs in Rome, but the Catacombe di San Gennaro is very different and special. Visits are only with a guide and are given ever hour. My guide was passionate and so very knowledgeable about the catacombe and the live of San Gennaro. It was a fascinating voyage back to the early Christian Church.... More

This is a must see, especially for those who appreciate slightly offbeat sights. Our tour was led by an earnest and well-informed young man who was involved in the restoration of the catacombs. Tip: I believe you can visit the site without a tour guide, but we found ours invaluable. Tours are available in English and Italian. Your ticket to... More

A great surprise and a very nice staff. Also recommended the walk between the historic center and the Catacombe because you can see a very authentic part of the city.

These catacombs are reachable only via guided tour. The cost at the time was 11E or free with the Campania ArteCard. It is located right of the Tangenziale which makes it a very easy and stressfree day trip. Parking is located at the church (free) and there is a parking attendant. Tours only leave on the hour so it is... More

This was a most interesting visit and we are very glad we made the (considerable) effort to get there, having left our car at the Capodimonte car park; Naples doesn't believe in pavements (sidewalks) or in stopping at pedestrian crossings and we kept having to cross busy roads; there doesn't seem to be any real chance to park at the... We have seen the catacombs in Rome and this one in Naples rivals them. Much early Christian Art is still visable on the walls. Very evocative.
