Oldest castle in Naples and it has free entry and on the daym of my visit a free photographic exhibition, sloped walking area into the castle and then steps but there is also a loft for those less able bodied, Gresat views and history.

Castel del Ovo, in Italian, not to be confused with Castel Nuovo, (New Castle, also known as Maschio Angiovino). The Castel Nuovo is located at Naples Main Seaport, the Castel del Ovo is located approximately 1 K further around the natural peninsular. (Note: Italians, especially Neapolitans have no concept of distances, 100 meters can be actually be 500 meters! AND,... More

We wandered through the castle one evening. Several bridal parties came and went for photos. Access is free, it is a very easy walk up through the castle with a few short flights of stairs. The views are wonderful as are pictures of the castle from the shore. As good as it was to wander around the castle I felt... More

Held up well. Great view of the Gulf of Naples, its long sea and the city. The interior is a bit 'bare, but still very pleasant to visit. It is also free. The only drawback: Sunday closed.

After you cross the little bridge the entrance is in front of you. There is no charge but that is because there is not a lot of open areas with items inside to look at. It is mostly a spot for pictures of castle walls and back towards Naples main land. It looks like most of the castle is used... More

We had a late train to catch and many hours to kill so we went to the castle. Its impressive on the outside but other than that there isnt much to see. All the paths on the inside are closed. It is free to roam around. If you dont feel like walking up to the top there is an elevator... More

Picturesque castle with some great art! The chapel was fantastic, and the site had a glass floor that let you see the burials underneath the castle foundation. Beware car thieves in Naples!!!! Our rental car was stolen while it was parked directly in front of our hotel. Naples also has lots of "Roma" who are looking for an opportunity to... More

My husband and I were lucky enough to experience Vitignoitalia (wine tasting) here on the 24th of May. It was a wonderful night. We actually had no idea it was happening. We just went to finish site seeing there from a previous day and it was a wonderful surprise. The Italians were very nice and hospitable. We had terrific wine,... More

Not much to see inside the castle but we went on a Saturday and 4 weddings were being held there, seemingly together, with the local press and TV. Good views from the top.
