This Centro Storico feels like the 'real deal'. We did not hear any English spoken during our 4 days in Naples. Tourists avoid the city because it has a reputation for crime & crumbling infrastructure. It is indeed a misunderstood city. We had a wonderful visit. Great food. Spectacular churches and museums. Do not miss the Vomero museum.Naples: Crumbling &... More

The centro storico is a must see in Naples. Not so well reserved as the historic buildings in Rome, Umbria or Toscany, but in fact that's Naples. Many nice churches, shops and busy street life.

The sizzling live in this city can not be described - you must have seen it. To get an excelent overview I would recommend to use the "funiculare" to the Vomero. All people we met in Naples were very friendly and cooperativly. Some words in italian language are very helpfull and maybe a "door opener"

and stop for a coffee and a pastry at Bar Gambrinus, one of the most historical bars in Naples. Than go ahead to the "quartieri spagnoli".

As we were flying out of Naples, we planned a last minute stop to visit the historic center. We did not have much time (1 day), I know, but we were not impressed! It's crowded, dirty and confusing! I am sure there are hidden jewels that we missed but we did not like Napoli... The best part of it was... More

The highlight for us; noisy, scruffy and dirty but unmissable. Tourist tat alongside local fruit and veg shops, you feel it hasn't changed in 50 years

We waited to visit the Centro Storico in Naples until the end of a two-week sojourn through Southern Italy. It is good we did, because had we seen old town upon arrival we might have gone home rather than proceed. We found the Centro Storico to be very educational ... in a couple of ways. First, there are some compelling... More

I walked down the port towards the city and just in front was the Castle Nuovo, which I decided to visit later as it was on my way back. I headed straight and you come across the busy parts of the city. Keep moving and then towards your right is where Centro Storico is located. You have Palazzo Reale, The... More

If you visit Naples don't miss a wander through the old centre - via Tribunali and the two roads that run parallel to it. It's here that you will find the best authentic pizza and coffee, many ancient churches and real atmosphere. Just hand onto your handbags, avoid motor scooters and cars that tear around the narrow streets, and soak... More
