Old town as nowhere else in the world. Full of people, mixed with tourists and locals. Dirty streets, garbage and hanging laundry over the streets. The atmosphere is very special. Great pizzerias and cafeterias all over the old town.

This is the area of Naples where you will find most of the attractions - Palaces, galleries, theatres, castles, restaurants. It's a very busy and hectic area. Be prepared to look past it and take in the richness of the architecture and hidden gems nestled away. Just wander around and you might come across some nice surprises. I was with... More

It seems like very little maintainence is done to historical buildings, and vandalistic graffiti make it even look sadder. Smokers leave their butts everywhere. The hillside of Naples is cleaner.

There are few Italian cities that can boast a heritage as that of Naples, the historic center is absolutely one of those things that I will carry forever in my heart, a place so different to any city I've ever seen, a place where you will discover a city walking alive, a combination of colors, aromas and flavors, where the... We stayed just on the edge of Centro Storico, and when we arrived we where lost and disoriented. It was noisy, dirty and very hectic, with honking cars and madcap scooter riders trying to run us down. But once we settled in to our accommodation, we slowly eased into this maelstrom. We learnt to love this ancient place. There's a... More

The centre of Napoli is very big and not the prettiest I have seen in Italy. To walk from the harbour to the railway-station allow plenty time since it is a large distance different in atmosphere from the more affluent resorts near Positano

The town was diry and this is reaaly a big shame.......but we loved to walk around this fantastic old town. Spaccanapoli, quartieri spagnoli, San Gregorio armeno (the famous presepi road), via chiaia, the gallery. You could spend a day simply walking and visiting monuments and breathe the history of this unbeliveble town. Don't miss pizza and sfogliatella and if you... More

This area is really cool to visit! So many different kinds of architecture and monuments. It is kind of chaotic but I guess that's what gives it its charm. Stop for a Granite and have fun exploring!

Narrow streets with touristic shops and pizza restaurants, local people riding vespas and shouting around gives you the genuine taste of being in Italy. Yes, that is something different and worth to experience. You shouldn't be very alert about the safety; just make sure that you do not give the impression of a rich and careless tourist. Historic center of... More

The historic centre of Naples is by no means the most picturesque part. It is ramshackle, chaotic, filthy in places and full of litter, but its also probably the nearest you'll get today to what life was like in a medieval city. Just look up some of the side streets and you can imagine that nothing has changed for hundreds... More
