When we arrived outside the Basilica, we first noticed all the flowers adorning the 'stair' rails - lovely fragrance - and on entering were told that although we couldn't wander down the central aisle - we could wander elsewhere. A tribute to the fishermen of the day rests outside. Inside the church is a beautiful tribute to Sant' Antonino. Worth a stop and a look. The statue of the Saint is across the street from the basilica and worth a notice as well.
If you enjoy the beautiful history of the Rennaissance all these places have historical value. The arts and structures at any Church has got to be seen to believe. So much beautiful paintings and statues that it creates an ambients of holiness that you can't help but get caught up in.
Church fairly typical of the region. The creche is on display inside the main doors. The stations of the cross and altars all display the excellence in intarsio (inlaid wood).
Went to Sunday mass and toured the treasures and art after. Pratically next door to our Villa Elisse apartment.

On the room below the main altar of the church is a display of shiny (maybe silver) talismans. They're idealized images of various body parts (eyes, hearts, feet, legs, breasts) which people brought (maybe in the 19th century) for intervention by Saint Antonio to provide a cure.
We were lucky to be walking by one night and the doors were open. We wandered inside and its absolutely beautiful inside. I echo the comment of how peaceful it was inside.
