What a lovely surprise Valencia was! We were just stopping over on our drive from Barcelona to Madrid and weren't really expecting much but we stayed in the old town and it was really beautiful.

We lived in this neighborhood for two months and loved it! It is in the old part of the city, still very local with families who have lived here for generations.. Although it is now "up and coming" and is slowly being restored, it still has the feeling of old Valencia. However, it is full of restaurants, small boutiques and... More

It's cool because it gives you a bit of the old Valencia feeling. Walking around in the small streets and the small shops (that really take siestas!) are a very rare thing for someone that doesn't have anything like it where they come from. I really recommend just walking around, getting lost and finding a way back on your own... More

This is a good place to people watch, check out history, shop, or eat. The major government building is here, the National Museum of Ceramics, the Cathedral, and so much more. We ate a great lunch here and found some killer shopping. Highly recommend.

You can walk the narrow twisting streets and see beautiful buildings , cafes quirky restaurants and bars. There are lovely plazas, churches and generally an air of peace during daytime. The barrio comes alive at night with music late night bars and clubs.

Barrio del Carmen is the oldest aera in Valencia, with lots of small streets, squares, restaurants and shops. Here you will face a lot of history. In many books you will find a walk which leads you through this area.
