Carmen has got churches, shops, cafes, bars, museums etc. It's not on the world tourist maps like Rome or Paris, but it has much smaller crowds and lower prices. There are some old Roman or Moorish ruins here and there, but it has centuries of culture, while there are always cool bars, restaurants, clubs etc for the young dudes to... More

This is the heart of the old Valencia, a deep contract with the modern and urbanized parts of this vibrant city. Go there, shop small, eat tapas and drink wine or bear, forget the daily troubles, but beware pick-pockets!

I lived in Barrio del Carmen for 4 months in the spring. I was amazed at the gorgeous street art at every turn. I spent entire days walking around taking pictures of art. There are lots of great shops and restaurants (as well as clubs and bars) to explore both day and night. I highly recommend spending some time here... More

Doesn't matter if you are in Tapas Plan or dinner plans. There are hundreds of recommended restaurants in the area, nighttime bars and other attractions. You won't regret it. Better in summer time but it's a busy area all year long.

Slightly Bohemian, great architecture, and full of wonderful restuarants. Our favourite place to hang out at night. Oh - and excellent museum.

I stayed at Barrio del Carmen when I visited Valencia , it was about 2 streets from the Market, I rented an apartment via Airbnb and it was awesome just to walk to the market every morning and buy everything fresh. From there you can walk to many city sights. Its a very safe place to walk at night with... More

We went to Valencia courtesy of Thomson and it was RUBBISH!!! We left Benidorm at 9am arriving back at 6pm and the hours in between were a drag...The guide, an american was mainly interested in telling us his life story during the whole of the outward trip...except for the time we were stopped at the motroway services for a 'comfort... The Barrio del Carmen is an old part of the city and has many narrow streets. The barrio is filled with restaurants and clubs and is known mainly for its night life. This is a place for young people to go to.

Must visit for small, quaint bars and restaurants (after 9m though); but also you can walk through earlier in the day to visit.

Very nice part of town with lots of restaurants and nightlife. It is also beautiful during the day. Just walk around and discover the beauty of this downtown district.
