I stayed at Barrio del Carmen when I visited Valencia , it was about 2 streets from the Market, I rented an apartment via Airbnb and it was awesome just to walk to the market every morning and buy everything fresh. From there you can walk to many city sights. Its a very safe place to walk at night with... More

We went to Valencia courtesy of Thomson and it was RUBBISH!!! We left Benidorm at 9am arriving back at 6pm and the hours in between were a drag...The guide, an american was mainly interested in telling us his life story during the whole of the outward trip...except for the time we were stopped at the motroway services for a 'comfort... The Barrio del Carmen is an old part of the city and has many narrow streets. The barrio is filled with restaurants and clubs and is known mainly for its night life. This is a place for young people to go to.

Must visit for small, quaint bars and restaurants (after 9m though); but also you can walk through earlier in the day to visit.

Very nice part of town with lots of restaurants and nightlife. It is also beautiful during the day. Just walk around and discover the beauty of this downtown district.

This neighbourhood is part of the historical city center. It is a nice place to walk around and see the architecture.

Old town area of Valencia. A maze of streets but some of the best bars and restaurants. Be sure to try the bars in Placa Lisboa, San Juan near Tossal and Negrita on Calletrava. All great. See separate reviews on restaurants. Good vibe in the area, worth visiting or staying in the area.

This is a terrific quarter of old Valencia - with lots of good bars, little restaurants, and good music joints. Start the evening in the Plaza del Carmen, or perhaps San Jaume, with a jug of Agua de Valencia (a Valencia version of sangria - made with cointreau, orate juice and cava).

this barrio is my favorite. it is in the old town, between the ancient walls. it is very nice and traditional, you can find very nice restaurants and stores. it is the place where to find something to buy for a gift.. something that is not common and touristic. If you can, try to find an hotel here!
