The coin and stamp market is held there on Sundays but the area is worth a visit to soak up the atmosphere of the area. Several restaurants but traffic make it noisy.

I stayed in Valencia in October and stumbled upoon the Plaza del Mercado while out walking. I'm so glad that I did! What a treasure-trove of goodness. Fresh bread, pastries, soups (particularly fresh gazpacho), fresh fruits and vegetables, an entire section devoted to fresh fish and shellfish, more variety than I've ever seen. Meat, cheeses, eggs, alcohol, ice-cream, soft drinks...it has... More

Of course the listed things in the heading are not the only ones which are available at the market but my preferences would go to these categories of produce. The prices are not cheap but the quality of the food does justify them

It's quite enjoyable walking thru the market....you'll get to see their produce, meat, fish... and lots of olives. You can bargain too!

A busy place in Valencia. The square is filled with cafes and eateries. One place will even cook the meat or fish you purchased in the market.

definitely the place to stroll, sampling traditional foods and even craft beers at numerous traditional market stalls. mix with locals and discover the authentic Valencia. we came away full of goodies, camera full of photos and having tasted the Finest Beers in the brewery stall.

one of the nicest market building i have ever seen. they have their own underground parking which is free if you buy a for a certain amount in the market. restaurants around the market which are made for the tourists but not "tourist traps" as they serve good food for a fair price.

Try a strong cafè con leche at El Kiosko in the morning, a lunch in the afternoon and adrink in the evening. Beating heart of the Central Market area.
