Plaza del Mercado is a great place to visit when in Valencia, the building is one of the most beautiful marketplaces in Europe, built in 1920, constructed in steel and stained-glass windows. Inside it is a hive of activity, stalls selling meats, seafood, cheese, all types of fruit, vegetables and eggs, and more. While we were there we tried out... More

Beautiful building I stumbled onto this walking in the neighborhood. Fun to sit with locals and have the local horchata drink, ice cold almond milk!

Pity we are on holidays staying in hotels because the fruit and vegetables especially looked very fresh and appetising. There was also plenty of choice in cheeses, hams and fresh fish and seafood. Reminded me of the Victoria Market in Melbourne but much much bigger.

Walk the 700 stalls, look at the meat, fish and veggies. Buy some cooked food and retire to your appartment. or you can sit outside around the Market and watch the people.

I loved the architecture, particularly of the dome. The prices of everything seemed wonderful, including fresh orange juice, cut up fruit, and a window selling paellas for about 4e! There's a nice restaurant inside where the food seemed fantastic and reasonably priced. Also prepared food (if you're staying in an apartment) and food ready to cook. Olives, candies, meats...So close... More

This is a great place to shop for fresh produce and Valencian products, trying the olives is a must. It is architecturally beautiful and surprisingly clean. There is a good range of places just outside to people watch as you eat Paella and look up to spot the parrot on the roof.

I think many fellow travellers are mixing the famous Central Market with square on which it is located. The former is a must see in Valencia. This topic, however, is not about it. The square itself has nothing on the one side, and a row of stalls selling touristy stuff on the other. The square is worth not much as... More

I think it is an old restored building, but very nice and with several small restaurants to have a drink on a pleasant evening

While visiting this gorgeous city with all it's Jacarandas, beautiful purple trees, you must visit this incredible marketplace. There are booths from the weirdest fish to the most delectable desserts. Local merchants bring their goods and I must say each booth is more interesting than the next. Do not miss this!

So, I am a foodie, so I like to taste some local food everywhere I go, and I noticed in Spain, they have these markets that during the mornings are full of people, and beside the fruits, fish and whatnot, you can also get a feel of the local aroma from the market. There usually is the place where you... More
