Mercado Central is a public market located in the city center. It is generally considered one of the oldest European markets still running. a couple of years a go it was completely renewed. Around 300 buying posts, where you can get the best vegetables, the best fruits, amazing fish, and a long etc of all kinds of foods. I do... More

It was a nice experience to visit this market. As a tourist, I enjoyed it. The building of the market is really awesome. Fresh vegetables and fruits are available in this market. Cheese and meat are also available. I also found a shop to buy souvenirs like magnets and show-pieces.

As has been stated Mercado Central seems more than a market place as the architecture is very special - the building's interior is exquisite, clean and well lit. Rest rooms are o.k., but you do need to pay a fee, so have small coins for the turnstile. My husband was fascinated with the fresh fish section, and we wound up... More

When we first saw this grand builing, we thought is a cathedral or railway station. It has lots of windows with designs and a skylight dome. This is a piece of art. Inside has a few hundred vendors selling fresh fish, vegetables, meat and colourful fresh fruits. One of the merchants even gave us strawberries to sample. We ended up... More

At this Central Market you can find the best products you can imagine for mediterranean cuisine. A wide variety of the best local products like vegetables a and fresh fish, is what you can expect for. If you get hungry you also can eat the traditional "tapas" and "bocadillos" with the "canha" a small beer. It's very easy to visit... More

You can buy whatever your heart pleases. They have fresh fish, prosciutto, bread etc. But what we loved most is freshly cooked paella which we took on our 'bicycle trip' towards the beach and stopped on our way in the 'green zone' which lasts escorts the city center all the way to the beach. We loved it!

A visit to the Mercado Central is a must in Valencia, in the morning since it closes at 2pm. The stall holders are delighted to explain the origin of the products, eg the subtle differences between different types of Valencian tomatoes. Some good cafés within the market, to linger and try out tapas or snacks, with good coffee, wine or... More
