The Central Market is one of my favourite places in Valencia. Not only because of its magnificent architecture but also because it includes one of the wonders of Valencia: its food. Have a walk around and appreciate vegetables that were in the field the night before, seafood just arrived to the harbour, fruits harvested recently, traditional Spanish species and all... More

I've been shopping regularly in the Mercado Central since moving to Spain eight years ago. Not only is it a beautiful building (you need to look up to see the lovely tiles), but it just keeps improving in terms of the variety of food available. My favourite stalls are those selling health foods, fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables, dried fruits... More

I love to visit this indoor market in Valencia. It is so colourful, and always buzzing with lots of people. There is such a vast variety of fruits, vegetables, meats and fish that you are spoilt for choice. Take note of the building itself, its a masterpiece. Definitely worth a visit

This was one of our favourite places to visit in Valencia. We went in the morning around 10 am when it was still busy but not overly crowded. We wandered around the stalls looking at the amazing produce and meats available. We had a late breakfast there by buying some bread from the bakery and then getting one of the... More

The building itself is beautiful and impressive, but what I liked most was the wide variety of food available. We were late (10 am) and the fish market was almost empty, but fruit, vegetable and meat stalls were operating. Many colours, smells and flavours all around. Makes you wish you were in an apartment to be able to cook some... More

It's the best place to buy your groceries, the food in the restaurant is excellent, and the surrounding architecture is unequalled.

We're in valencia for four days and have a flat. The market is one of the best I've seen in Europe. The range and quality of foodstuffs is phenomenal. We tried many things and bought beef and fish and fruit and veg, great Jamon and cheese. The stall holders were generous about my lack of Spanish and we worked out... More

As many others have said it's a superb central market for the: structure design, amazing fresh produce, high quality meats and multitude of gourmet food items available. Two personal faves: A. Granel (run by a very kind woman) for local/regional wines and other items; and Paco Roig Sucre & Blat for great bakery treats. You will be able to find... More
