Looking for fresh produce, nice things to taste and a great atmosphere? The Mercado Central is really nice. It is the largest covered market in Europe, so dont't forget to look up: the ceiling is nicely decorated and also interesting.

Since the renovation of the coveted market, not only it looks great but the new tapas bar is excellent. One notch above the old one, it serves delicious tapas with a great choice of wines. Try the artichokes, eel casserole, pimento del patron with a nice glass of cava...a nice brunch idea. You may have to queue for chairs but... More

Super fun! Super interesting! A look into the daily life of the people of Valencia! Don't miss it! It's hundreds of individual vendors, selling whatever it is they specialize in from seafood to meats to cheeses to spices to baked goods. Whatever you want, somebody's got it. If you want goat's heads, they've got it! I know, I saw it!

Excelent food, a truly Spanish food. There you can try paella, plenty of fish, vegetable, fruits. We've been there in September and it was not so crowdy.

Valencia's Central Marketplace is one of the largest and most interesting marketplaces in all of Spain. It is just up the street from the Cathedral (separate review). This marketplace is a major hub of activity for locals who come here to purchse meat, vegetables, fish and a wide assortment of baked goods. The market is clean and exceptionally well organized.... An excellent beginning of your Tour around Valencia. Open only in the morning. Best local market for residents and a real festival of lightning, colors and smells for visitors. Daily fresh fruits and vegetables from "La huerta" (fertile plain of the city), gentle and friendly women at the stalls, and a place for tasting Spanish ham of Jabugo (best "jamón)... More

Very cool market. Tons of vendors, cheese, meats, seafood (some very interesting choices) and fruits and veggies. Seems to be the place for locals and tourists. Absolutely worth a visit to grab some wine, meat and cheeses for the day.

We found this by accident, not far from the Plaza de la Reina. It is a working market used, as far as we could see, mostly by locals - there were very few tourists visible. The quality of the produce is first class. The building itself is also very nice. Well worth a visit.
