Casa-Museo Jose Benlliure was not even on our 'radar' to visit on our recent stay in Valencia, it was only because our guide on a walking tour of the city said it was his favourite museum in his city and always quiet. We were not disappointed with it either. Fortunately for us in the month of April most tourist attractions... More

The Jose Benlliure House Museum has plenty of art of the Benlliure Family. Jose was the brother of Mariano, famous as the best sculptor in Spanish history. The house has a very nice garden that is quite peaceful. The house also has plenty of art of the Benlliure brothers and is worth seeing.

I share many of the other views expressed. Why isn't this museum busier? A delightful experience where you can enjoy a couple of hours in the house of Jose Benlliure. Well thought through start in the garden and the work your way through e various rooms full of fascinating artwork and collections of furniture that had been collected over the... More

We walked by this unprepossesing building on the way to visit the Serrano tower and it was closed for lunch. After the tower visit we decided we would reurn and see what it was about, we were attracted by the name of Casa and assumed it was a museum of the house. To our delight we found 3 floors of turn... More

On the ground floor the rooms have been left as they would have been when Jose Benlliure lived there and provide a real insight into the type of furniture etc. It was surprising how cool and quiet it was inside. On the first and second floors are lovely paintings done by the Benlliure family. I wasn't too keen on the... More

His younger brother was the famous sculptor Mariano Benlliure y Gil. He studied in the Spanish School in Rome in 1879 and won the first medal in Madrid with his painting The Vision of the... More

I don't know why this house doesn't attract more visitors ! We were not many people the day when I went, which was perfect to enjoy the place. The first part is a traditionnal old valencian house, with beautiful "azulejos" (tiles), furniture, objects, etc., you can really see how (rich) people were living 100 yrs ago in Valencia. Then you... More
