I didn't know about the Benlliure family before visiting Valencia but this museum was a real eye-opener. None of the three artists featured is in the top echelon of painters or sculptors but the house showing how they lived, the family tree of connections and the artworks themselves provide a fascinating insight to artistic life around the turn of the... Right by the River Turia (the old one with no water) you can find Benlliures home, with beatiful furniture, small but nice rooms with different caracter. It doesn't surprise you in any way, it's more or less what you can expect from an avarage home museum. You can see a lot of Benlliures pictures uppsteats. I was a bit disappointed... More

We had thought this museum was more about the house than about the paintings and artefacts, but there were a lot of paintings and about three rooms downstairs with furniture.

I was really blown away by this museum. The ground floor and garden are as it would have been in the families time. You really feel that you could live there or be a guest in their house. I'd never heard of this family before but upstairs there is a collection of the paintings ranging from father to son and... More

Casa-Museo Jose Benlliure was not even on our 'radar' to visit on our recent stay in Valencia, it was only because our guide on a walking tour of the city said it was his favourite museum in his city and always quiet. We were not disappointed with it either. Fortunately for us in the month of April most tourist attractions... More

The Jose Benlliure House Museum has plenty of art of the Benlliure Family. Jose was the brother of Mariano, famous as the best sculptor in Spanish history. The house has a very nice garden that is quite peaceful. The house also has plenty of art of the Benlliure brothers and is worth seeing.

I share many of the other views expressed. Why isn't this museum busier? A delightful experience where you can enjoy a couple of hours in the house of Jose Benlliure. Well thought through start in the garden and the work your way through e various rooms full of fascinating artwork and collections of furniture that had been collected over the... More

We walked by this unprepossesing building on the way to visit the Serrano tower and it was closed for lunch. After the tower visit we decided we would reurn and see what it was about, we were attracted by the name of Casa and assumed it was a museum of the house. To our delight we found 3 floors of turn... More

On the ground floor the rooms have been left as they would have been when Jose Benlliure lived there and provide a real insight into the type of furniture etc. It was surprising how cool and quiet it was inside. On the first and second floors are lovely paintings done by the Benlliure family. I wasn't too keen on the... More

The House Museum of Jose Benlliure is located at Blanquerias, 23. Jose Benlliure y Gil (1855-1937) was born in Valencia in a family of artists. His younger brother was the famous sculptor Mariano Benlliure y Gil. He studied in the Spanish School in Rome in 1879 and won the first medal in Madrid with his painting The Vision of the... More
