Easier to get into, better to look at, more interesting murals, paintings, statues than the actual cathedral. During Fallas it takes centre stage with over 120,000 falleros filing past to offer flowers (carnations) to build the wonderful creation that is the Mare de Dieu de los Desamparados

Were able to see enough to appreciate the atmosphere of the basilica but, as there was a mass ongoing at the time, did not linger too long.

We popped in here while a service was being held so we didn't stay long, but took a quick look. It was certainly worth it. It is very ornate and the painted ceiling is very beautiful. Much more interesting than the cathedral.

Amazing place to visit during fallas, they had build a gigantic statue of the virgin and every fallera left flower when they passed. At the end the whole thing was fulfilled with colored flowers

The Virgen of the Desemparados is the patron saint of Valencia and its basilica is at the heat of the city, particularly during fiestas such as the fallas. The inside of the building is amazing, particularly the paintings on the coupola which have been recently restaured.

It's huge and worth checking it. Requires around 2 hours for a very small fee, very historic and full of details and info. I loved it so much

We have been there during one of the events where they offer gifts and prayers to the holy Virgin and it is fantastic. A lot of history and spiritual feelings inside the church.

I love to go to Mass, confession and to pray in the Basilica. Everyday at 1:00pm the Youth Choir sing the Mass. I love it!

It seems the entire catholic community has an appointment at the Basilica on Sunday. An informal one: people come and go. Some pray, other are talking on their mobile... Look at the roof of the basilic: it has have a restauration recently and the colours are marvellous! The Virgin is somptuous and in May they take her outside and cover... More

Smaller than the Cathedral . Fantastic ceiling. Always seemed to be a service on when we were passing . Even if not a believer a nice place to rest your weary, sweat covered body, slip off your shoes and feel the cool marble on yor feet. You may not become a believer but you will leave feeling a better person.
