The outside of the church is imposing but plain. The inside is very ornate and you may not realise the main section looks at the back of the statue of the virgin. To see the front of the statue you need to go around the left hand side and up some stairs where there is a small chapel where some... More

This was probably the most beautiful building I saw when I was in Valencia. The outside doesn't show it's beauty yet, so I was totally overwhelmed when I got inside. With smaller rooms everywhere, I found this a very special place.

We visited on the Day of the 3 Kings,6th January(Epiphany)when the effigy of the child Jesus is held by the priest and the congregation queue up to kiss it.Classical carol music plays and the ornate rococo altar, apse and magnificent Virgin form a slightly over the top backdrop.Understated it is not but utterly fabulous.

The church has wonderful ceilling paintings. When there is no service, there is classic music played and people walk in all the time to sit some time inside.

Went to mass there was a wonderful experience, the painting on the ceiling was as good as the ones in Rome. The statues and gold was out of this world beautiful place to spend in the piece and quiet of the Basilica. There were too many beggars around the doors should not be allowed, spoils the whole ambience of the... More

Went to see this church and by luck a service was about to start. This day not less than two children's choir was singing. Of cause the church in it self was very beatifull.

Compared to the rather staid cathedral next door this Basilica is a riot of gaudy colour and decoration inside. The ceiling and the altar area are astonishing and the two times we poked our heads in the place was packed full for mass which gave an amazing atmosphere. Definitely worth a quick look just to see the adoration accorded to... More

Ceiling as you enter is really impressive. Would suggest taking a look if you're visiting Valencia. Doesn't take much of your time to take a look around

We made several trips to this church and witnessed multiple weddings, not to mention one in the chapel that houses the Holy Grail. Very impressive architecture.

Quiet place to reflect - beautiful paintings on ceiling - well worth a visit - see archaeological site through water next to Basilica
