The Basilica is located in a lovely square in the center of old Valencia. And it is next door to the Valencia Cathedral. Admission is free. The Basilica was built between 1652 and 1667 and dedicated to the city's patron saint. Due to late arrival via cruise ship, we didn't get to this sight till after 11:00 AM and it... More

This church is much more interesting inside than outside. Very beautiful interior. Especially I liked the ceiling.

Luckily got in, as our visit was timed with the end of a mass. Definitely worth making the effort to see the statue of the Virgin which took pride of place on the alter. Amazing to think that this is paraded around the streets during festivals - heavy weight must be very difficult to handle - especially with that amazing... More

Really lovely church behind the cathedral. Walked in and was taken back by the ceiling. Wow. Be careful not to enter while a service is happening mind, very busy & a quite private moment.

This was so beautiful. It was nice to explore on my own with the aid of the audio tour. Don't miss the Holy Grail Chapel, one of the last chapels, where the chalice from the Last Supper is displayed.

Beautiful church close to the cathedral and in my opinion much more attractive. The ceilings and the virgem herself are really amazing.

Information guide was good and not too long. Holy Grail chapel was definitely worth visiting. Full size statues in the room just prior to the Holy Grail chapel were wonderful as you could get up close and look at them at eye level. Even if not religious well worth a visit.

Easier to get into, better to look at, more interesting murals, paintings, statues than the actual cathedral. During Fallas it takes centre stage with over 120,000 falleros filing past to offer flowers (carnations) to build the wonderful creation that is the Mare de Dieu de los Desamparados

Were able to see enough to appreciate the atmosphere of the basilica but, as there was a mass ongoing at the time, did not linger too long.
