Address: Plaza del Ayuntamiento, Valencia, Spain

Description: The palatial Ayuntamiento (Town Hall) of Valencia dominates the square...
The palatial Ayuntamiento (Town Hall) of Valencia dominates the square, and its bells chime out the hours. Surrounding the plaza are other buildings from the city's golden age, such as the Correos (the main post office). In the center of the plaza, a fountain is surrounded by flower stalls with all the colors, sizes, varieties imagineable. This is a good starting point from which to visit Valencia's old quarter or today's most fashionable shops.

The Monumental Centre

So many monumental buildings and statues surround this plaza that you wont know what to photograph first, this has to be one of the most impressive squares in Spain.

This is a busy square with heavy traffic and lots of people, near the Valencia Nord Station. On one side is the Ayuntamiento (Town Hall) filled with, according to locals and the press, corrupt politicians and on the other side is the magnificent Post Office, a must-see inside. As you are so near a look at the booking hall of... More

With the Town Hall on one side and the magnificent Post Office on the other a wander around this square is a must for any photographer, especially at night when they are lit. At the end of February fireworks are let off at 2 p.m. on the last Sunday with marching bands and the whole population of the city seems... More

It's the central plaza that you start the feel of the history of Valencia... Historical buildings around and superb architectural sites...huge fountain in the middle which is very nice.

The central plaza in Vallencia where we took our bearings from. At the moment there is a huge Christmas tree and a crazy ice rink ( with long queues to get on) it's particularly beautiful at night with all the Christmas lights on and a great place to stop, sit and people watch. Enjoy!

Eat, drink, catch a bus or just sit in the plaza and watch the world go by. Christmas tree and nativity scene at the moment alongside an open air ice rink.

Crazy during Las Fallas! There were literally people partying all over this central plaza when I attended Las Fallas 2006. A lot of fireworks and other stuff going off all around you. It is also quite a nice open space to walk around ... center of historical Valencia.

Nothing rwally to do here normally other than sight see, but in winter (2014) there is an ice rink in the middle and tree and nice atmosphere. Skates could be sharper but for only 5e grab a pair of skates and give it a go!

Downtown Valencia is really the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, where one can see the imposing City Hall, which one can enter. Part of it is a museum that is free and should be seen. The plaza also has a beautiful and big fountain that is quite impressive. There are many hotel and many restaurants where one can eat. The Post Office... More

The Plaza Ayuntamiento is a open plaza in the heart of Valencia and a great place to take photos of the grand Ayuntamiento itself and to visit the Correo.
