15-20 minutes from the Melia Alicante hotel and there's 7 km of sand and sea in front of you. It's the place where I would stay next time for the beach vacation in Alicante province.

We visitied San Juan Beach twice recently. It is a huge beach, with bus links that leave you ten minutes away. It is very popular with locals - but the waiters, lifeguards etc didn't have very good english and were not friendly to us at all. The sand is roasting so use the boardwalks provided! As other reviewers have mentioned sunbeds... More

San Juan beach is divided into many smaller sections such as Carabiners and Muchavista. Only 15 mins from Alicante city, the beaches are very clean, water quality is excellent, and many have small bars and cafés nearby. Plenty of room for swimmers and sun worshippers. Sunbed hire is reasonable, €12 for 2 comfortable beds and a large umbrella. Worth travelling... More

This is an absolutely beautiful beach, the water is shallow a long way in and the beach is clean. It is a popular beach with a few cafe's at various points so demand is high and snacks are expensive. There is a McDonald's which if you are nearby is a cheaper option. Two Sunbeds and one umbrellas cost 12 Euro... More

Great beach, lovely sand. And the water!!! OMG! It was literally boiling!! I have never set foot in such warm waters(well, this is not due to the beach, obviously, due to the warm currents, but still:)) Nice, quiet, not too many tourists, you can enjoy a great day at the beach. Very clean, too. Could do better on the entertainement... More

This really is a lovely spot for grown ups and families. The beach is vast, cleaner than clean and relaxed. Dotted along the promenade are a huge array of lovely restaurants where you can sit beneath the shade of palm trees and either have a cocktail in a trendy bar on a white leather sofa watching the sun go down... Beautiful, clean beach. Playgrounds for children on the sand and some nice places to eat on the promenade.

Playa San Juan in Alicante is the perfecct beach. The sand is almost white and there is just the right amount of surf. The restaurants on the beach are actually pretty good esp for lunch. The little city itself is well laid out and has some nice restaurants as well. The tram is very new and takes you quickly into... More

This beach is between the beautiful city of Alicante and the less attractive (to me!) resort of Benidorm. It is a sandy glorious stretch of the Costa Blanca and I love returning here time and again. It has a great promenade with a mixture of modern and more traditional cafes and restaurants. There is a large hotel at one end... More
