We have visited here every year in August for the last 11 years. It has changed so much. The marina is lovely, we have had some lovely meals there. The bus service is reliable, cheep and runs all hours. There is a fun fair near the marina which we plan to take the kids to this year-2014. We hire a... More

The Mar Menor is a gentle and very calm "sea" , its actually a lagoon with beautiful sandy beaches with lots of water sports and beach bars/ restaurants. Ideal for families with its calm waters and gentle shelving sea bed. Lots of good hotels to stay in nearby , places of interest and some fab restaurants.

Another excellent free day out for the family, the Mar Menor was much warmer than our pool so great for the kids, super shallow so safe and the mud baths were just great fun and brilliant for the skin, all sorts of claims for health but I'll keep my reservations on that one! If you use the mud, which we... More

The Mar Menor is a salt water lagoon 20 by 4 miles across, attached to the Mediterranean. It is edged by narrow, lovely white sandy beaches, safe for small children due to the shallowness of the sea, which in consequence is always many degrees warmer than the Med'. At Lo Pagan there is a breakwater, pedestrian walkway along the dividing... More

We enjoy relaxing strolls along the many promenades that skirt the Mar Menor. We prefer to visit outside the busy July/August period but I am sure it is great for families during this time given the clean sandy beaches and the gentle waters. You can walk (or cycle) for miles and there are plenty of places for refreshments.

Just returned from the first of what will hopefully be many trips to this area of Spain.... Went to Portugal in August for the first time, which everyone raves about, but found this so much nicer. Murcia airport was 15 minutes from Mar Menor Golf Resort where we stayed and Sol Mar car hire picked us up, 5 minute drive... More
