I'm not usually into tours, but this caught our attention, we love Madrid and food and company, and this ticks all the boxes. The Guide was wonderful and gave us some general information on Madrid whilst showing us some great tapas locations, more than enough food and drink, and good company, made a good holiday into a memerable one

For those who are visiting for the first time, on a tight schedule, or just unsure of where to start in Madrid's many tapas bars, this tour is highly recommended. You will get the most out of the tour if you are adventurous (note the company name, people) as the guide shows you a wonderful variety of plates since Madrid... More

We only had 2 days in Madrid and this Tapas tour was an excellent way to learn about the city. James explained everything to us..history, culture and food. We would never had tried this on our own..so glad we did this. James is great!

We were looking for an experience that would introduce us to how the Spanish do tapas. James was very friendly and ordered us many dishes that were typically Spanish, including many we otherwise wouldn't have ordered. This tour has definitely improved our whole trip in Spain as it has provided us with the confidence to go into more traditional tapas... More

This tour was the highlight of my visit to Madrid. James took us to 4 bars where we ate, drank and made friends with the others on the tour. James provides a perspective on the food and city that you won't get elsewhere. Highly recommend this tour!!!

We did this Tapas tour on our first night in Madrid. The tour allowed us not only to get a feel for the city, but also understand the history and cultural origins of the city and its food. James was an excellent guide. He was very accommodating for dietary restrictions within the group, knowledgeable about the city, and made us... More

If you like food drink and a good night out you will enjoy this experience. I won’t say tour as what you get is customised to the groups preference. James the guide is an ex finance journalist and is a gregarious scot. He quickly established a great rapport with the group and had some interesting local anecdotes. The tour takes... More

Staying in Centro

Neighborhood Profile
Centro
Expansive plazas, local and foreign crowds, street performers, colorful lights, window shopping, restaurant signs promising the best paella, ham, and churros con chocolate- this is downtown Madrid, a collection of plazas interconnected by a network of side streets. Some of these side streets are wide pedestrian shopping routes, and some are hidden, so it's possible to duck in and out of the bustle as desired. The iconic Puerta del Sol is the giant crossroads of the city and a must-see attraction at any time of the day. The nearby Plaza Mayor, completely enclosed by historic red buildings, is an ideal place to grab a bite to eat outside, amidst scores of tables and people out for a stroll. Plaza Isabel II (also known as “Opera”) is smaller and a good meeting spot, and the stately Plaza del Oriente is the front yard of the Royal Palace. Centro can be touristy (pickpockets are unfortuately not unheard-of here), crowded, and sometimes gimmicky, but it is also the place to experience classic Madrid.
