I am something a fraud reviewing Bodegas Muga because the trip was so full we actually couldn't get in, so this is by way of warning: you need to book early. We love Muga wines so much however we went into their tasting area even though we couldn't go round the winery. The wines were absolutely delicious. Not one single... More

Interesting larger winery - more on a commercial scale, but still worth a visit. Still using old traditions and cooperage at the winery.

Took a guided tour of this winery and can't rate it high enough. What a wonderful experience, our tour guide was so knowledgeable and personable, she made our visit a memorable one. We learned everything about their facility, including barrel making. Wine tasting (and shopping) rounded out the experience. We left very happy, thank you Muga!

We only had one full day in Haro so very pleased we were able to join the 10 am English tour at short notice. Muga is very much a family business who have kept traditional methods, using only natural products such as oak, cork, even fresh egg white (you will have to take the tour to find out why...). Our... The lady in the tasting venue at Muga was very welcomming and informative. Wr enjoyed a tswting of their range starting with a lovely fresh Cava. The Reds were outstanding and these were some of the best wines we enjoyed in the Rioja. Muga is positioned as you enter the area where all the Bodegas are situtaed. If you have... More

Like Susan H, we were shown around by the lovely, enthusiastic Carmen. I would endorse everything she says about the wide range of what you are shown. The first grapes of the new harvest arrived as we were there and she was so excited to see them, we all rushed over to share her joy! Very interesting and informative and... More

spent an excellent 90 minutes going round the bodega. Carmen the tour guide was so enthusiastic and passionate about the wine and the process. It was great to see real people at work unloading grapes, cleaning the big barrels, decanting the wine, stacking full barrels and topping them up, bottling rioja and even a team making barrels in front of... We visited this as part of our recent trip. It's an easy walk from the centre of town, down the hill (and sadly back up on the way back....). We decided not to do a tour, having been to one at another bodega the previous day. It opens early in the morning, which seems odd, but we turned up about... More
