Many shops, mainly small independants in a street that seems to go on and on. There are alleyways that go off the main street that are also worth investigating. Good place to buy duty free, but shop around, prices do vary. Lovely atmosphere. Some of the smaller shops have staff that do not seem to want you to look around,... More

Arriving late evening we went out for a stroll to get the atmosphere and could not believe it. We only saw half-a-dozen people the whole length of Main Street and Casemates Square was not much better. Both were heaving during the day. It was the same every day. Where does everyone go after 6 pm? Being used to places such... More

We arrived in Gibraltar on Friday afternoon and it was buzzing, we thought we would be in for a great night, not so. We went back in the evening about 10.00pm, the Lord Nelson asked everyone to take their glasses back into the bar at 11.00pm and change for plastic glasses!! (We are middle aged). We then went for a... More

The Main Street is full of shops of all description but be careful as some unscrupulous traders are more than ready to take your cash! For a warm welcome and good food call in at The Carpenters Arms which is incorporated in to the Methodist Chapel situated three quarters of the way up. Pass the Governors residence and The Guardhouse... More

We walked along Main Street from Casemates Square to the Cable Car Station. There are more Jewellery shops than I've ever seen! Dont miss Cathedral Square just off Main Street. Holy Trinity Cathedral is worth a visit. The Catholic Cathedral in Main Street was unfortunately shut when we were there .Near the Catholic Cathedral in a square just off Main... More

If you visit Gibraltar you must see the monkeys. But I will strongly advise you go with a guide. The monkeys can be a bit of a fright if you don't know what to do....They can touch you.You cannot touch them. The views ,the caves, the airport that has a roadway through the middle. It's all there. Don't take the cable... More

As you cross the border from Spain you find the number 5 bus. 1.50 Euro to get you into town and back but they don't tell you all the other bus routes (1, 2, 3, 4 and 6) in Gibraltar are FREE, just get on and travel around most of the island for FREE. However it is a good 10... More

Shopping is no-VAT at competitive prices with familiar British and international store names plus local shops. I've listed 113 stores in my FREE 16-page Gibraltar guide at www.TomsPortGuides.com The guide has a walking route map to the Cable Car and a link to download the “official” tourist map. I've included coordinates for tourist attractions so you can create your own... More

To get to anywhere on foot you'll probably have to go up and down Main Street. In just a 2 day stay we trotted up and down lots of times and soon got really fed up with the place. Unless you are there to stock up on cheap cigarettes and booze or electrical goods that might well be cheaper on... More

What a disappointment, nothing special about main street. The bars and restaurants all looked shabby, and the shops had nothing special in them, prices seemed quite high. You have to queue for about an hour to get on to the rock if you are taking your car in and also queue to get out. We were told it was the... More
