At the time of our stay in Santiago this market was full of local producers selling their fresh produce on the street, which gave it a particularly nice colour to the grey of the streets of teh city.

The fountain is on the Camino and is a perfect spot to watch entering Pilgrims while enjoying a glass of Mencia. There are many restaurants and shops for browsing and many streets to explore. Worth a relaxing few hours.

Old narrow streets full of stores and restaurants, and tourists. A beautiful place to walk and stroll, sit in a café and watch people.

Central location - easy to incorporate into a walk. I went through here several times whilst in the town. There was quite an interesting book fair set up around the base of the central pillar on one occasion (Saturday). Several places nearby to sit with a drink.

In the old city of Santiago, close to the Cathedral, this small and quiet plaza is typical of Spain. The statue of Cervantes lies just in the middle of it.

The Plaza Cervantes is one of the main squares of the city and it has the old city hall of the city. This building was constructed in 1583 and later the city hall was transferred to the Palacio de Raxoi in 1787.

Found myself walking through this plaza several times. On Saturdays there is a book sale around the fountain. I found paperback books in English for less than 5€. All sorts of books in Spanish. Nice open plaza.

Great buildings from days gone by! The square is surrounded by them, such as the Palace of Fondevila, the Casa de Bazon and a church dedicated to Saint Bieito. Great place to walk around and enjoy the ambiance.
