Definitely a place to go if you are in the city, has the how old atmosphere where you can feel in the old times, can find also very good restaurants to go and try some tapas

Based on an earlier review we went looking for this plaza. Agreed, it is on one of the routes for the pilgrims arriving in Santiago there was little opportunity to sit and enjoy a wine or beer while watching the arrivals. We only saw one bar open, with just 3 small tables outside, so you would be lucky to get... More

It was a typical small plaza. Ok, but don't go out of your way to see it. If you blink, or don't see the bust of Cervantes on the column, you will miss it.

We walked through this plaza at least 20 times during our stay in Santiago because our hotel was located nearby. It was busy (but not crowded) most of the day. There are shops, a church, and restaurants directly off the plaza. A very nice statue (with a bust of Cervantes at the top) graces the center of the plaza. During... More

The Way or the Camino path for the pilgrims walking into Santiago passes directly through this plaza. This is a great location to grab a vino or cerveza around lunch time and watch the pigrims walk into Santiago.

There are other squares in Santiago de Compostela that are more interesting but are not listed here, for example Praza da Universidade, Praza da Santo Agostino or Praza da Quintana, east of the Cathedral. Praza Cervantes is a nice spot to rest by the fountain or try one of the local bars.

I walked past this Plaza often during my stay in town and was always struck by its prettiness and business - cafes, ice cream shop, shops, newsagents, tourists and local people going about - a really pleasant feel.

This is a great plaza to rest in after the rigours of a days walking. S ome really authentic spanish bars and restaurants that the locals frequent. The Agrismo is a great spot with a great staff.

Handy to know where it is, and of course any monument to the great writer is worth paying some homage to, but it's not really a destination for an itinerary of visits. Check out the old market a few streets away if it's open for a much more interesting visit.

Beautiful square for sitting and drinking, looking at fountain, going to a book shop, listening to a street band or waiting for pilgrims to pass through on their way to the cathedral. Sometimes exhibitions in buildings on square - recently saw 100 winning wildlife photographs. Clean, no litter.
