In the old city of Santiago, close to the Cathedral, this small and quiet plaza is typical of Spain. The statue of Cervantes lies just in the middle of it.

The Plaza Cervantes is one of the main squares of the city and it has the old city hall of the city. This building was constructed in 1583 and later the city hall was transferred to the Palacio de Raxoi in 1787.

Found myself walking through this plaza several times. On Saturdays there is a book sale around the fountain. I found paperback books in English for less than 5€. All sorts of books in Spanish. Nice open plaza.

Great buildings from days gone by! The square is surrounded by them, such as the Palace of Fondevila, the Casa de Bazon and a church dedicated to Saint Bieito. Great place to walk around and enjoy the ambiance.

I sat at a small pub/cafe for many minutes. I had free wifi and cheap wine. It is an easy place to find and great meet up place for pilgrims and tourists alike. I did not eat there but I remember watching all the people ambling by. I will visit again next camino. It will be a favorite place as... More

I don't know how you can miss it. Very quaint. All part of the Camino experience as you make your way through the masses.

Nice square in the old town of Santiago de Compostela. Statue of Cervantes is located there. Few cafes, calm atmosphere.

Beautiful old plaza. Clean, full of people from around the world. Old world feel. Nicely maintained. Great meeting place. Recommend if in the old city of Santiago.

We happened to be here in August during a music festival and saw several excellent outdoor music performances here, including a classic rock band and a young 60's influenced four piece band. What's not to enjoy? The bars provide the refreshments and the entertainment was free.
