We had high expectation of Montserrat but it somewhat fell short of our expectations. It was far from our expectation of a tranquil monastery and everything seemed very commercialised. We bought a transport ticket at one of the information centers in barcelona. It included the Metro, train, railway. Caught the 9:30 AM train to the railway up to the Monsastary. I found this place one of the most wonderful places on earth it is so peaceful and relaxing the views are breath taking i have never been to a place more breath taking so ive been back 5 times more

This was one of the highlights of the Barcelona visit and well worth climbing on a bus tour for the day. The landscape and scenery at Montserrat were wonderful; the mountain itself is so different than the ones surrounding it. The rocks are smooth rounded pillars keeping guard; it was really quite fantastic!
